Travelling around the world by train, showcasing the best of what railways have to offer! I make videos on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@SuperalbsTravels?sub_confirmation=1

NEW VIDEO! Taking a journey through the Alps aboard Austria's new generation Railjet, from Verona to Innsbruck! I'll check out the controversial Business Class compartment and other new features, on this incredible scenic trip. 😍 WATCH: youtu.be/CpwPzzkTey8

Now all the way back to Kraków aboard the country's premier loco-hauled train, the Express InterCity 'Neptun'. It's a long 8.5 hours down the mainline tonight, in one of these modern 178A-10 compartment carriages - really comfortable seats on these, I think they're sprung? 😃

BildBildBildBild

The trains to Hel sure are popular, just look at this outrageous crowding - I'd estimate around 200 people in each of those double-decker carriages, I even struggled to board the train sometimes today... 😱

BildBildBild

These double-decker carriages sure are worn out, with unusable windows and bits of the train rusting away... 😢 Though apparently the carriages (and the loco) will be replaced next year, by newer vehicles second-hand from DB Regio.

BildBildBildBild

I couldn't resist riding some of the summer specials around Hel, especially with this retro liveried SM42. And it seems everyone else had the same idea, as this train is absolutely packed - not much legroom to go round mind! 😳

BildBildBildBild

And we made it, just one minute late! However, I don't have long in Hel - I will be heading back west a few stops after a two minute stay, on another one of these fun-looking Czech diesels! 🥽

BildBildBildBild

9 hours later, we arrive in Gdynia! There's a 1 hour stop here, while we change locomotive for a Czech ČD 754 diesel that will take us on the final stretch into Hel. 😴

BildBildBild

Our route today starts by heading west, towards Częstochowa. As the sun slowly goes down for the night, it's time to get ready for bed and enjoy my complimentary midnight snack! 😁😋

BildBildBild

Time for a trip to Hel (literally), aboard the PKP Intercity sleeper train. I've got 12 hours in this 1980s sleeper tonight, boarding in Kraków for the long trip across Poland. I think it's going to be a comfortable and cosy night... 😊

BildBildBildBild

Travelled back from Przemyśl to Kraków with the Leo Express, another comfortable journey. Despite the late departure, we arrived on-time in Kraków Płaszów!

BildBildBildBild

We made it to Przemyśl Główny a minute early, arriving next to a colourful Ukrzaliznytsia train to Kyiv - I'd love to ride behind the elegant ChS2 locos one day... 🥺

BildBildBildBild

Przemyśl Główny is a beautiful station, while the platforms aren't anything special, the building itself is glorious, and always a pleasure to see. 😍🇵🇱

BildBildBildBild

The new loco-hauled Business Class of Leo Express on the Frankfurt-Przemyśl route, in spacious six seater compartments. This also includes a light meal or snack in the price! 😋

BildBildBildBild

And welcome @LeoExpress' loco-hauled trains to Poland - I'm aboard their first ever service from Kraków to Przemyśl, travelling in these wonderful comfy carriages! 😊

BildBildBildBild

And here we go, through Gliwice sidings, and the southern route into Hajduki. It's always strange seeing these modern Polish-built units on infrastructure that rarely sees anything but heavy freight trains! 👀

BildBildBild

Aboard the ED161 Dart! I usually avoid these units, but today this train takes uncommon lines around Zabrze due to a closure. It's 46 mins to Katowice today (instead of 21 mins), but these unusual diversions help keep passengers moving even in disruption - which is great to see!

BildBildBildBild

Gliwice Station, with its platforms completely rebuilt in 2016, alongside the additon of a large overall roof. I think it's a really cool station, and there's plenty of variety in train services passing through! 😁

BildBildBildBild

A brand-new train, the Koleje Małopolskie EN79A, at just 10 days in service. 😁 I really love the ambience on these units, and the extra capacity from 5 car units will certainly be appreciated on busy commuter and leisure routes around Kraków.

BildBildBildBild

Taking some very unusual routes today, along the Kraków Płaszów avoider and some freight sidings, getting a few unique sights of the city's railways that most passengers never get to see... 👀

BildBildBildBild

Another ride on the Intercity Nieśpieszny train today, heading to Kraków via many unusual freight only routes. Always a pleasure to ride this gorgeous retro train... 😁

BildBildBildBild

Now for dinner! I'm having the tasty tomato pesto gnocchi, with a refreshing pot of strawberry cheesecake ice cream. All of this, AND drinks, included in my Premium Class ticket on Leo Express! 😋

BildBildBildBild

Time for another trip with Leo Express, in their Premium Class fron Kraków to Warsaw for €25. 😍 This is still one of the best train seats in Europe - even the other passengers here were taking photos of this smart interior.

BildBildBildBild

Koleje Śląskie... in WARSAW? One of the KŚ 14WE units paid a visit to the capital today, and I captured it running empty through Warszawa Centralna. These heavy EN57 rebuilds actually used to operate here and indeed the Warsaw SKM logo was still visible all over the interior. 😁
