A day of close-to-home tourism. Rowing on the Mississippi then exploring Minnehaha Falls then eating at the Minneapolis staple Sea Salt, then riding surrey bicycles at Minnehaha Park, then a Saint Paul Saints game. I love Minnesota.
In discussion about where we'd go if time travel tourism became a thing and my answer was "go take a class from Carl Sagan."Like the badass I am. 🤓
I went to the Post-Modern Times Cafe in Minneapolis today, which has moved to a pay-what-you-can model. It's remarkable what treating someone with the simple dignity of dining in a restaurant can do. From the locally sourced food to the community…. Five stars. people.com/minnesota-restaura...

Okay so the book Yesteryear has an alarming number of glaring flaws, particularly in the editorial space, but I couldn't put it down. Finished in a day and a half. Argh!
18 year old me losing her shit seeing Dashboard Confessional in the body of 40 year old me who just wanted to sit in the shade with a lemonade.
I just finished Lonesome Dove. It was my first five star read of 2026 (unless you count the quick reread of the book about Shackleton that helped me through a heat wave earlier this summer.) Basically flawless. And my search history is real weird now.
Music festival this weekend, so naturally I made myself an app that finds the Apple Music Essentials playlist for every artist on the lineup and combines them into one. Built entirely in @BitrigApp... from the code to the App Store screenshots to the App Review submission. 🚀
The thing about reading Lonesome Dove is that I'm starting to accidentally and unironically say things like, "over yonder."
If there ever was a day to eat Oreos before 10am, this sure is it.
"Historical dolls set in 1999." Just put me on an ice floe to die already. It's totally unfair that my adolescence qualifies as "historic" but I don't qualify to live in retirement communities www.americangirl.com/collecti...

This year's new foods for the Minnesota State Fair are a little low key compared to previous years! As long as the funnel cake cheese curds from last year are a standard menu item in 2026 and deep fried cream cheese olives on a stick return, I'll be happy. www.mnstatefair.org/new/food/

The name Minnesota comes from the Dakota "Mni Sóta Makoce," which means "sky-tinted water" or "the land where the water reflects the skies." Truth in naming tonight at Como Park.
The only patriotic post you'll find me making today
I'm not proud of my country (quite the opposite.) But I am so, so proud of my state! And I love that our new state flag has become of symbol against fascism. So. It's a 4th of July manicure. But make it Minnesota flag colors.
Despite my utter lack of patriotism, this is the time of year when, as a former band kid, I listen to John Philip Sousa's greatest hits and walk around whistling the piccolo part of The Stars and Stripes Forever. It's not at all annoying.
Not me, watching an ant singled out from the recent ant infestation that blessed my kitchen climbing over the diatomaceous earth, yelling "die motherfucker!"
Saturday Big Boat Day was a lot of fun! A nice, tight 32 SPM rowing port in an 8+ is just about my favorite way to spend a morning.
I have a housefly in my house. I opened the back door for a bit to let it out. Update: I have two houseflies in my house.
