With the occasion of Assad’s upcoming birthday, we would like to take a moment to reflect on all that this talented young man means to us. For many, following his career, his achievements and celebrating his talents and kindness is a source of happiness and pride that shines a light in our daily lives. It is for this reason that we want to commemorate his birthday by doing something that is meaningful to us. The excitement we all feel about the approaching season of The Vampire Lestat contrasts with the growing darkness of a world where racism, sexism and homophobia continue to be a discouraging reality. Many people, our fellow citizens and even people from this fandom, are struggling and suffering in their everyday lives with no prospects of things getting better. Assad is to many of us a reason to keep going and a reminder that even amid chaos happiness can be found in the small things. We will always be grateful for all he gives us and all the joy he brings into our lives. For this reason, this year we have decided to create a little something from Assad Zaman Nation to share with all of you, stickers and prints from artists in the fandom! These will be available to purchase, and all the profits will be donated to Trussell, a UK-based organization that works to feed people and ending hunger. With this initiative we want to honour Assad and to contribute something to this organization in his name.
