Ostensibly a professional account, but people prefer to look at my guinea pigs than read my thoughts on WordPress and the web. Quite right, too. Web developer, former journalist, avid reader, history buff, thespian, mother of rodents.

Mine lists “Maintains organized living spaces” under Interests and Hobbies and notes that I read mystery novels regularly and care for guinea pigs extensively. In summary: I am evidently the world’s most boring person, but nobody, not even Amazon, thinks my buttocks are flat.

Amazon users are discovering a bizarre "About You" page that reveals what the company thinks it knows about them One woman found Amazon had determined she "has flat buttocks"

Meadow has gotten so mellow. More times than not I can either pick her up without a long chase or get her to step into a cuddle without a fight. She lets me pet her now — not for long, but she doesn’t hate it. She seems to really like it when I stroke CBD gel onto her ears.

Oma update: her surgery went well! The vet removed two stuck eggs, ovaries, and a uterus. Snake Dad learned today that some of the tissue removed was cancerous. He’s overwhelmed not just that he’ll lose his darling girl way before time, but that he’ll drown in vet bills trying to care for her.

Oma the danger noodle will have her surgery on Tuesday. In just a week her fans have gotten her to 40% of the goal. It would be great if we could reach it so Snakedad can worry about her, not the bill. Can you help by sharing? gofund.me/e87002623

More Harlequin drama in recent days. He’s figured out how to put pressure on the access point to The Lair to pop the clip keeping it shut. Twice he’s broken in. Today I made a grab for him as he was side mounting Hayworth. He tried to run but snagged a rear toe in the fleece seam.

Jury duty today. Wasn’t seated, but it turned out unexpectedly fun. By coincidence I found myself seated in the empaneling room next to another Walker of a similar age but a different race. We joked about being long-lost siblings (“Dad never told me!”) and the shared Walker trait of bad knees.

Hey all, there’s a danger noodle that could use help. She has an egg that’s too big to pass. They’re going to have to remove it surgically, and then she’ll have her ovaries removed to prevent this from happening again. gofund.me/396d2da9a

Today is not going as planned. Started work at 5:30 am to push updates and make changes while nobody else was in the system. Predictably, I needed a nap by 3:30. Woke up later than planned and realized Harlequin hadn’t been out for floor time yet. I closed up The Lair and let him out.

Meadow news! Vet visit today: 1. She is *not* pregnant. 2. Her lungs are clear. 3. She’s has a spot of arthritis in the knees, which is doubtless why she’s less active. 4. She has a little sludge in her bladder. Generally she seems to be in fair health, and we’ll treat for 3 and 4.

Tabitha is definitely in heat this weekend. No babies there. She’s got it bad this time — tried to mount Meadow and Hayworth simultaneously during floor time. Harlequin can smell the hormones.

Weigh-in time! Last check was Aug. 10. Harlequin: 1425g, up 10g Meadow: 1390g, up 35g Tabitha: 1155g, up 40g Hayworth: 1250g, up 60g Harlequin is holding steady. He was 1420g on July 30. The girls’ results are interesting.
