This World Mental Health Day, we’re highlighting the impact stalking can have on mental health. Our 2025 research found that 95% of stalking victims reported experiencing mental health challenges. Yet only 7% of healthcare professionals felt very confident identifying stalking.

As prisoners are released today under the Early Release Scheme, serious questions remain about whether the criminal justice system is ready to manage the increased risk, particularly for victims of stalking. ❗️ We are extremely disappointed that this is going ahead. [1/4]

📢 As Labour Party Conference takes place, we’re asking what progress has been made on tackling stalking? 1️⃣ We welcome recent announcements, including the National Taskforce tackling misogyny, specialist courts for rape & serious sexual offences, and enhanced services for victims of domestic abuse.

On 27 September 2024, the Super Complaint Committee published its report and 29 recommendations on stalking – evidencing all of our concerns and setting out a clear roadmap for improving how stalking is recorded, investigated, prosecuted and prevented, and how victims are supported.

In this video Dr Kirsty Butcher from the Multi-Agency Stalking Partnership talks about the work happening across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight — where MASIP is bringing police, health and victim advocacy services together to protect people faster and hold perpetrators to account.

Stalking requires a coordinated and multi-agency response. Multi-Agency Stalking Intervention Programmes (MASIPs) bring together police, criminal justice, health and other relevant partners to address perpetrator behaviour, reduce re-offending and improve support for victims.

🎥 For people experiencing stalking and harassment, being supported by someone who understands and knows what to do can make a real difference. Hear from our colleague Steve Lingley on how training plays a vital role in raising awareness and creating safer spaces to reduce violence and aggression.

🎥 What has the super-complaint meant for policing’s response to stalking? Hear from DCC Sarah Poolman, NPCC Lead for Stalking & Harassment, on how important the stalking super-complaint was in identifying systemic issues in the way police respond to stalking and in holding them to account.

Only 7% of police recorded cases of stalking in the year ending March 2025 resulted in a charge/summons. That is unacceptable. In 2022, we submitted a super-complaint against the police, finding systemic issues in the response to stalking across England & Wales. [1/4]
