This bundle of fluff is a young Kestrel, brought to us from a residential building site in Goole. We removed some fly eggs from the bird’s tail end, and the animal continues to progress well. Our thanks to the construction staff for bringing the youngster through to us.

A call earlier this afternoon to Pontefract Park lake, for a distressed young swan towing fishing line and a ‘chinstrap’ - a tight length of line caught around the bird’s lower beak.

This seemingly late hatching cygnet was brought through to us last week, found alone without parents and suffering with a leg problem. Our sincere thanks to the kind members of the public for securing the youngster and travelling her through to us.

A cygnet was found in a bloodied state on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal. The bird was initially assisted by Yorkshire Dales Wildlife Rescue, who then transferred the animal to our care for further treatment where she continues to thrive.

One of the sweetest little patients we’ve welcomed into our care in recent weeks is this tiny leveret (a young hare), pictured here upon first arrival. She was found on a residential street after it was believed she had been carried and injured by a dog before being dropped onto the tarmac.

Last week, we attended Askern Clay Pond, following a report of a cygnet with fishing line protruding from its neck.

One of our rescuers recently attended Pickering Park in Hull, following reports of a swan carrying a fishing hook through her upper beak. The bird was contained and the hook safely removed, before release back to her mate and cygnet.

So many hedgehogs are in need of help at the moment. Many are suffering because of the recent warm weather, including this youngster brought to us from Wheldrake earlier this week, pictured here upon first arrival.

A call this afternoon to Barrowford in Lancashire on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal, for a young swan carrying fishing tackle. The cygnet was swiftly caught and safely de-tackled on the towpath by our rescuer, and without any lasting injury released back to its family.

A trip to North Ferriby last weekend to assist a pair of swans that had become closed in a residential garden. The birds had reportedly been in the vicinity for three days before we were contacted.

Our thanks to Zina for bringing us this beautiful Kestrel recently after the bird was found unresponsive on the roadside, most likely having been struck by a vehicle.

Yesterday, we attended Newhay Lakes following report of a swan in a poor condition, as pictured here on the left when our rescuer arrived.

A visit to Askern Lake this afternoon, following reports of a Canada Goose with both legs entangled in discarded fishing line. Sadly, on arrival our rescuer discovered not one, but three separate geese needing our assistance for the same issue.

Thankfully, we were eventually able to capture the Greylag Goose we posted about earlier this week at Sandall Park in Doncaster. We also located a second goose with the same issue, found with a length of fishing line wrapped around one leg.

A trip to York for one of our rescuers earlier today, for a swan reported to be carrying some fishing tackle. The bird was quickly contained, and a small hook located in his tongue which was safety removed along with the attached line and weights. The bird was returned to his mate a short time later

This swan has been recovering in our care in recent days, after becoming trapped in lock gates along the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

This afternoon, we attended a very distressed cygnet on the Aire & Calder Navigation at Great Heck, after a concerned boater spotted the young bird tangled in fishing line around its neck, wings and legs.

This young swan came in from Retford during the week, and is now receiving treatment for a wing injury. Our thanks to the concerned locals for getting the help the animal required.

This young blackbird was brought to us recently after flying into a window and being found stunned on the ground. Following an appropriate and successful period of recovery in our care, the bird was fitted with a leg ring (under licence) and has since been released back into the wild.

A trip to the River Aire at Hunslet to rescue a cygnet that had become tangled by one leg in fishing line tied to some reeds. On closer inspection, we also found fishing line caught in her beak.

We are currently caring for this young Tawny Owl, after the bird was found grounded and in a poor state, suffering from fly strike.

We rescued this young Greylag Goose on Thursday afternoon at the North Yorkshire Water Park near Scarborough, found with a crossbow bolt lodged through the lower part of the animal’s neck.

This cygnet has a lot of attitude! This one arrived in with us via Yorkshire Dales Wildlife Rescue last weekend, having been found alone on a stretch of waterway. He will be well cared for with us until fully grown, and released back into the wild where he belongs come the autumn.

A hedgehog currently with us - pictured upon first arrival - found out during the day with a few issues including dehydration and a fresh injury to one of his toes, which required veterinary attention. He continues to progress in our care.

One of our callouts over the weekend was to Baildon, for a swan reported to be carrying fishing tackle. Thankfully, our rescuer was able to safely capture the bird, remove the tackle, and reunite him with his patiently waiting mate.

This Grey Heron with a wing injury gave us the run around on a couple of occasions, before being safely contained by our rescuer yesterday. Our thanks to the caring local residents who first noticed and reported the injured bird.

This chap required our help, after he had a nasty crash landing on a road and was seen to be clipped by a vehicle. He progressed well in our care, and was released earlier this week on to an appropriate waterway.

Two more adorable cygnets, pictured here upon first arrival with us. They were brought into care by Yorkshire Dales Wildlife Rescue, after being reported alone with no parents to care for them.

Earlier this week, we came to the aid of a swan at Roundhay Park after reports that the bird had a large amount of fishing line protruding from its beak. Thankfully, our rescuer was able to safely remove the line, and the swan was promptly released back onto the water, none the worse for its ordeal.

Always nice to see! Returning this male swan home to his mate and cygnets following treatment, after his recent stay with us.
