With the garden list poised on 799 it only took one more trapping night to bring up the 800, thanks to this slightly battered Bulrush Wainscot. Going to be a long wait for 900 though! Overall 100 of 56 was about par on a cool night here in SW Hants. #teammoth

287 of 94 in SW Hants last night included this apparent Bactra robustana (awaiting CMR clearance though), the 16th NFG of the year, with the garden list now tantalisingly poised at 799 . . . #teammoth

A bit of a breeze kept the numbers down, but an increase in variety making 364 of 112 in SW Hants. Highlight was this NFM apparent Balsam Carpet. No recent records locally and it would appear to be a spring generation individual, which seems odd. Thoughts/overrules welcome! #teammoth

603 of 108 in SW Hants last night, numbers boosted by big counts of Ermines, culmella & Stigmella (61+ of at least 2 spp; I rarely get more than half a dozen). The day after finally ticking Dewick's Plusia I get a 2nd, brighter one. Also 2nd garden record of Small Purple-barred was nice. #teammoth

352 of 93 in SW Hants last night included two very overdue NFM: Dewick's Plusia (worn, but I'll take it) & Crocidosema plebejana. 2nd garden record of Brown-veined Wainscot also nice, especially with a Webb's Wainscot for comparison. #teammoth

Twin-spot Plume last night takes the overall year list to 400, just a couple of days later than last year. Second garden record of a scarce Hants species. Tenanted Stigmella floslactella mines yesterday was new-for-me species number 13 of the year (have only had them vacated before) #teammoth

A lurking Fig-leaf Skeletoniser in a customer's garden just now, my 12th new species of the year. Last night 272 of 72 was more than expected, albeit skewed by 127 Chrysoteuchia culmella, comfortably a garden record for that species. Virtually no noctuids, with just 12 of 6 for them. #teammoth

369 of 103 last night, but the only usable photo I got was of the crane fly Ctenophora ornata. 48 Diamond-back Moths (8 R-d Pearl & 1 Silver Y the only other @migrantmothuk.bsky.social) & 42 Riband Waves topped the counts. Past three nights have advanced the garden year list by 59 to 314. #teammoth

Pammene aurana from a visit to Martin Down this morning, a new moth for me, my 980th in Hants. Six additions in all today took the Hants year list past 300 (now 305) and the "without a trap" year list into 3 figures (105). Rarest of all was my 1st Small Tortoiseshell in about 3 years #teammoth

Last night felt suitable, but on recent evidence I was cautious, however spring finally came to SW Hants, with a greatly improved count of 76 of 38. Included a whopping 17 NFY, four here: Poplar Hawkmoth, Pine Hawkmoth, Coxcomb Prominent (1 of 2) & Peach Blossom. #teammoth 1/3

As a bit of extra info on the sticticana, the Hantsmoths website lists ten county records this century, the last of which was in 2017! #teammoth

After an OK seawatch on the SW Hants coast, kicked through the grass, plantains & thrift on the clifftop and was rewarded with the day's 2nd NFM: Epiblema sticticana (See ALT) Dichrorampha acuminitana (7), Elachista argentella (9), Pyrausta despicata and (no pic) Homoeosoma sinuella NFY #teammoth

Only 16 of 14 in SW Hants, but worth it for NFM Spuleria flavicaput! Less than annual in Hants, and this is a new 10km square, but no doubt not a coincidence that two years ago next door planted a Midland Hawthorn barely 8m from where the trap sits. #teammoth

Been in a bit of a moth grump of late, with few opportunities and poor returns. Nice therefore to pot a NFM Micropterix tunbergella at work this afternoon, 4th newbie of the year. Then a little later Cream Wave took the overall year list to 100, milestone hit on the same date as last year #teammoth

After a warm Saturday, and with a brand new bulb, had hoped for more than the final tally of 18/13 last night. Only Brindled Beauty (4) & Waved Umber (3) weren't singles. Did include 5 NFY however, with Iron Prominent, Muslin Moth, Angle Shades & Red-green Carpet shown #teammoth 1/2

A couple of hours out pre-work added three to the year list (now on 86). Pebble Hook-tip & Eriocrania sangii were nice and photogenic, Adela reaumurella much less so. The inevitable Coleophora serratella cases also seen. #teammoth

A breezy night in SW Hants, but thought I'd trap anyway as it was mild. Hadn't bargained for often heavy rain the two hours around dawn, making processing the meagre 13 of 9 a very unpleasant business. Yellow-barred Brindle NFY. #teammoth

A brief window of opportunity allowed me to get the annual Emperor fix. Never sat still, but this is by far the best pic I've ever got of one. May get a whole one in focus one day! Also my first (seven) Coleophora serratella cases of the year. #teammoth

A couple of nice moths this morning whilst working: Incurvaria masculella disturbed whilst mowing, species number 70 for the overall year list. Water Carpet on a customer's front door, a new one for the "not with a trap" list. #teammoth

Excellent mothing in SW Hants last night, with 88 of 24 recorded, inc 11 NFY, 4 of which here: Red Chestnut, Water Carpet, an early Paraswammerdamia combinella & Brimstone (1 of 2). Excellent totals of 15 Hebrew Character, 12 Brindled Beauty (both garden records) & 4 Waved Umber. #teammoth 1/3
