Do you want to make your own indie game, but no idea where to start? Pretty much everything I’ve learned since I started, I’ve learned through tutorials. Not everything may be a tutorial, but if I found it useful, it’s here. Hopefully you’ll feel the same. docs.google.com/document/d/1...

In light of recent events, I now INSIST that the one story in Swift Spark that WILL be told, is the one where non-binary Bella teaches James how to ask out a girl after his two cis guy friends fuck it up. Had that one in the cards since 2022, it's not going anywhere because of a bunch of weirdos.

I've made basically zero progress story/mechanics wise because of the sheer amount of research I've been doing. But it's for a good cause - I'm learning how art direction can not only affect a game's look, but also performance. The "after" image doesn't just look better - it runs better too!

BEFORE screenshot of my game - James standing in the school's assembly hall, with an ugly, empty skybox in the background because of the windows - see-through windows may be "realistic" and up to standard, but in this case, it's just ugly. The AFTER of the same assembly hall, with updated visuals and increased stylization.
