I think that Dolly Parton was, for a lot of people, an ambassador of the "good" values people think of about the South: kindness, hospitality, can-do spirit, sharp and witty and down to earth. I think for a segment of people, too, she was theantithesis of a lot of noxious masculine country stuff.

They could just be helping people and every day they choose not to help people. They choose to harm. And when they die, we’ll dance and laugh and be thankful they’re gone.

It's important to recognize what Dolly did in her lifetime, now more than ever. To see how a wealthy person can positively affect the world around them by simply sharing and caring. We have an excess of wealthy humans who are selfish and hateful. Dolly proved that doesn't need to be the rule.
