Been there. Last year when fighting cancer with good health insurance but a comically toxic employer, I had the thought “I might just be trapped here.” Balanced with “but also my college president, who told me I’m not hard to replace, could end my contract and let me die anytime!”

I often think of this question on the Yale climate survey. 47% of people believe they’ve experienced global warming. When actually 100% have. I wouldn’t be surprised if belief drops as the crises worsen. Seeing it with your eyes or feeling it in your throat or lungs builds the dissonance
