Off on a 36h jaunt to revisit the pleasures of CROSS-CHANNEL travel, as a FOOT PASSENGER. Those raised in SE England will know the day-trip routine: cross in the morning, have lunch in France and throw it up in rough seas on the return 🙂 But what is still possible, now we have the Channel Tunnel?
Walking the Thames, Kingston to Putney, decided to divert through Richmond Park to see the deer. Not a sausage! Just loads of canada geese that have apparently lost interest in water and have taken to following humans. No doubt hoping for scraps of their adopted urban food - doner kebab & noodles!

Those who live in France will know that SPAM CALLING has been widespread for many years. "La Liste Rouge" was introduced to stop it, but the spammers mostly ignored it. Then "Bloctel," which perhaps worked a bit, but was also widely ignored. We now have general "opt in" legislation. Will it work ?

This always scares the daylights out of me, and weirdly I find the descent (especially from 10 levels) scarier than the going up!

Extraordinary that Infantino thought he could bounce world football into adopting his crazy scheme. A UEFA boycott will hopefully kill off the idea - and with luck, see him removed from post.

Thefts of copper cable have been happening for years on these lines, causing huge frustration for those affected and costing millions in repairs - with relatively little financial gain for the thieves. A total waste - with apparently no solution in sight 🤔

Looking for an SSD, and seeing NEW that prices are very high - so am tempted to buy S/H. But weirdly, ads on eBay don't specify how 'worn out" they are. Writing slowly kills cells, so the controller usually "retires" them before they die. It's like buying a S/H car without knowing the mileage🤔

I had not heard of "clip flashing" until a few days ago. This is an ancient graphics card - so old it appears in Neolithic cave paintings. It wants a new vbios and you do it with the card disconnected. Clip on to the ROM directly, erase the bad energy, and infuse it with the new. It says it worked 🤔

If government agencies like MI5 are to operate in the dark, shouldn't they face serious sanctions when caught acting illegally? But it's £20,000 and a mild rebuke. Not really a sanction at all - just an operating expense. 🤔

"El Panda" might be "bestial" on the pitch, but he seems a genuinely decent man. As told here, he refused to play for the national team until they took proper action again coach Rubiales and his abusive treatment of the women's team. They eventually did - and El Panda came on as sub in the final !

If you're in London and like walking, this area around Bow Creek and London city Island is worth a visit! It's quite central and developed, but the presence of water everywhere - the Thames, the series of bends in the River Lea and several dock basins - make it genuinely complicated. A labyrinth!
Good to see that London's "Woolwich Free Ferry" is still running and is still free. According to TFL, they have an all-female crew ("low-T" in Pete Hegseth language). I notice also that they have stopped using ropes to tie up. They use big blue magnets! And today, one of them seems to be broken 🤔
The idea of a cruise ship terminal in Deptford would likely provoke hysterical laughter from most Londoners. I guess that's why they pretend it's "Greenwich". It's not exactly Barcelona, but there are occasional ships here. And it looks like they've persuaded Uber / Thames Clippers to stop there 🤔
