Football, mainly Liverpool FC 🔴

Liverpool were missing their top scorer from this season, their current top scorer for the club and their reigning player of the season. For an an hour they were the better side. Munoz continues to impress. Plenty to build on. Up the Reds.

I was a big backer of giving Wirtz as much leeway as possible last season, he's clearly a super talented player, but we can't always make excuses. Much of his ongoing issues stem from more basic things like pulling out of tackles, not controlling the ball well or misplacing simpler passes.

Muñoz was a real outlet and our best attacker on the day. Koumas can be proud of his debut, incredibly tough to come into a game like that but made a nuisance of himself. If only that big chance had gone in. Bradley and Flo, the far more expensive players, weren't able to step up.

Proud of the players. So many injuries and more than matched them before the red, in fact offered more of a threat. Was disappointed with Wirtz though. Barcola also had a poor game but off ball he was really good in tracking back, covering for Kerkez etc. Wirtz again couldn't get a grip on a game.

🚨Rio Ngumoha to @talkSPORT on Iraola: The gaffer has really been helpful. And all the coaching staff as well - I can't speak highly enough of them. But I'm enjoying it. I'm playing left-wing, right wing as well. So it's given me another tool to destroy defenders. #LFC

🚨Thomas Tuchel on Rio Ngumoha to @talksport: Rio was very impressive at this kind of age. He was explosive, he was adventurous, he was strong and one-on-ones like a true winger. We are excited about his potential and about his natural courage and adventurous style of play. #LFC

Kerkez worries me tbh. Mostly because he's not a smart player, and I like smart players. I loved his intensity, and I don't doubt he'll give everything, but I feel likes very simple minded. Doesn't read the game, situations or opponents well. Just runs around like a bull terrier.

🚨 Álvaro Arbeloa tells Sky: “Every decision was for them. I knew after the game against Manchester City that they don't like Manchester United to lose”. “There were so many things for Man United, you can see it in the foul by Maguire”.

Jacquet is the complete package. Phenomenal 1vs1, dominant in the air and duels, a fantastic progressing passer, and leadership traits (Captained multiple France youth teams). Even positionally he looks strong and ussually that's something CBs take time to learn, saved Virgil a few times.

"Jacquet was tremendous - he wins his battles, uses the ball really well...he pops up in areas, wins the ball and gets you on the front foot early." "He's the version of Konate we hoped we'd signed...he was really good for Liverpool, but this lad's unbelievable." 🎥 Ratings

Trey Nyoni shows every time he plays why I wanted him to start first game of the season and I still want him to start. Perhaps the gradual approach to introducing Trey keeps senior players happy, but he's more than earned a start imo.

Wirtz probably had his worst performance of the season first half (improved a bit second half) and I wanted him subbed but he still did better than Gravenberch in the 10 because at least Flo always works hard and tries. Grav not sprinting back when we're defending a narrow lead bugged me.

Every time I see the penalty the more angry I get at Frimpong. He's not a smart defender, he doesn't think enough about his position, his role, what he's needed to do when. He might be useful as a late sub, if we need an overlapping FB but he can't be starting even without Bradley fit.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Trey Nyoni with a solid cameo for Liverpool: - 18/20 passes completed - 2/3 ground duels won - 2 tackles - 2 recoveries - 1 interception Not bad in about 14 minutes 💪

Barcola clearly improves us on either side, but if we don't fix the fullback and midfield issues it's no use having 3 £100m+ players - they won't get the ball and we'll still concede a lot.

Hit my 'post limit' on twitter (didn't realise they even added a post limit) so I'm on here to moan about the game. There were some positives (Jacquet/Araujo did well, Munoz 2nd half, Nyoni when coming on) but overall a disappointing performance and result.

Our fullbacks are performing as backup level fullbacks at best. That Liverpool have shown no interest in improving these positions is dissapointing. Brentford have better fullbacks than Liverpool in Diouf and Kayode.
