Modelling the Alien fish for Madana 2.0 was fun and done in a couple of hours, from sketch to texturing in Substance Painter. They're not perfect, but I'm happy at how goofy they look, modelling more animals later.

Alien fish models, sketch on the left, textured results in the middle, unsubdivided models on the rightdecent poly-count, what I love about using this method is I don't really need to retopo after. drawback is I can't really do fine detailing like when you sculpt models like this.alien fish sketches, done on my Samsung tablet while having brunch outsideI love how the bottom fish looks so goofy with the false eyes on the dorsal fin

Is this considered old fashioned now? To actually sketch out your ideas and collect references instead of prompting? I'm so much more comfortable exploring with sketching, digital or not.
