While we might know what food we eat, we don’t always know what the food we eat is fed. In the case of farmed fish, it might be carcinogenic fire retardants.

Israeli soldiers received orders to drop heavy bombs on populated areas in the Gaza Strip without evacuating them. The massacre in Jabalia killed over 250 Palestinians. The U.S. sent Israel 2,000 lb. bombs via the UK for Israel to carry out these massacres.

Menace to democracy Elon Musk has slowed Starlink to sabotage Ukraine and help Putin. So what country will be stupid enough to pay millions to any of Elon Musk's companies when they now know that he may unilaterally breach contracts for personal reasons on a petulant whim? Oh, I know! The US.

That political environment includes Jillian Segal's taxpayer-funded role as Special Envoy for the Israel Lobby. A position that enables her to back McCarthyist campaigns against artists, writers, health workers, musicians... and anyone who criticizes the genocidal apartheid rogue state. #auspol

“Despite the collapse of Adelaide Writers’ Week and Bendigo Writers Festival, these genocide cheerleaders continue their targeted racist campaigns, buoyed on by a political environment that has acquiesced to the pro-Israel lobby and punished the pro-Palestine movement” - Randa Abdel-Fattah

Exclusive: a pro-Israel WhatsApp group is once again seeking to cancel Randa Abdel-Fattah from Adelaide Writers' Week. The fresh campaign comes only months after pro-Israel lobbying led to the collapse of Australia's premier literary festival earlier this year. www.deepcutnews.com/p/exclusive-...

Trump and Musk are pressuring Zelensky to hand over territory to Putin so Trump/Musk can resume business as usual in Russia Hard for the UK and rest of NATO to talk about Trump's US as an ally. Zelensky is telling it how it is because he's not much more to lose. This is a dark hour.

Piers Morgan: Do you feel betrayed? 🇺🇦 Zelensky: Yes. It's a pity that we are losing a strong partner. Piers Morgan: You think you're losing America? 🇺🇦 Zelensky: Yeah, but not because of us. We can't be weak. We're not selling our country. Look, It's our lives. It's our country, home, children.

"Whoever controls the dominant media controls, to a significant degree, which frameworks become available for making sense of political life and which remain marginal." Political journalists would do well to read Gramsci. Instead of uncritically reproducing their employers' narrative. #auspol

One reason Rupert Murdoch wages his long war against public broadcasting is that he & his cohort of media barons make the communal sense that we take as “normal.” This essay gives a very approachable explanation: linguistically.substack.com/p/antonio-gr... #Auspol take note below colonising 📺

Fucking disgraceful. For-profit essential services are an abhorrence and the main parties have both embraced them with open arms. No nurse/aged care resident ratios, instead living worse than incarcerated felons unless you pay thousands of dollars a month #auspol

Not quite fair to describe this as "price gouging". This is a privatized #agedcare system operating as intended aftery three decades of neoliberal Labor and LNP governments. #inequality #auspol

At some point we also have to deal with the fact that one of the two parties is openly hostile to democracy. If you have to win big every election or else the country falls into despotism we're all just playing Russian roulette every few years

Ossoff: "The last time Trump lost the presidency, he tried to seize the presidency and overturn the election. That's why it's so important that we vote in unprecedented numbers. This is up to the people."

Interestingly, Australia has now appeared on that joint statement, and the release looks to me like it has been backdated. ABC is reporting the delay was due to “timezones”. Lol.
