Was looking forward to Whisper of the House and its strong Unpacking vibes, but sadly, the text is miniscule. And you need to read the prompts to work out what item you're holding.

An isometric pixel art apartment with a mezzanine bedroom. A tiny text prompt over a yellow rug reads "Warm, bright, and full of energy."

Okay, just hear me out, right, a chronological video series going through every video game that's got cavemen or dinosaurs in it and then I put them all in a big tier list at the end. Then, as an epilogue, a Prehistoric Gaming iceberg. Yeah! Yeah?

The puppets episode of Strange New Worlds would have been fine as a curio in a larger season when we got Trek on the regular. When there's no more on the horizon, and it's 10 episodes per season, the whimsy just can't hit in the same way no matter how well-made it is. Like the puppets, it's fluff.

I'm genuinely stumped. Why do we give a shit about where Harry and Meghan might live, where their kids will go to school, anything like that? I could sort of get it if they were an active part of the Royal Family, a institutional curio that drives tourism. They're not. They're just rich and posh!

The five minutes of rain we had today was incredible; I took lots of pictures, and am really glad I took the time to make the cardboard pinhole thingy so I could look directly at it.

I tried to submit my band to a recording label and the producer told me "We'll only sign you if you have seven members." "A septet?" I asked. "Only when you get more people," she insisted.

Last one, I promise, but when you get to the likes of Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser’s Fury, Mario’s shadow is still always under him but can now deform to run up the wall when he’s partially over a ledge, like it’s a goop-monster chasing him. A useful visual aid that’s kinda creepy in retrospect!

Bild

Super Mario Galaxy has the same shadow but not the same problems. The camera frames jumps from the side to help you get a better sense of Mario’s elevation, his spin drags you towards anything you’re close to, and look at the crazy level of ‘snap’, ensuring the player can get onto this swing.

Spatial awareness, especially in bonus stages, has always been my bugbear in Super Mario Sunshine and I think it’s his shadow’s fault. It’s always directly below him and barely changes size, making it really hard to tell how high above the ground you are. Like, that ledge grab totally surprised me.

"There's actually a very simple explanation. In *their* universe, Howard Stark's mother remarried into the aristocratic von Doom family. Wealth enough to provide for her grandson, Anthony Victor von Doom, until he was old enough to read from his first spellbook. Anyway, bye." "Bye, Doctor Strange."

Met a young step-sibling for the first time today, and immediately ruined any social standing I might have had with them by admitting a) no, I've never met Toby Fox, b) I only play the OG Plants vs. Zombies, and c) I don't have a main in Brawlhalla. That side of the family is BIG on Undertale.

What's with this "BlueSky is dying" panic? No, we're just off battling wildfires and drought and oil shortages and exhaustion and erosion of basic human rights and... ...As someone who's been online for 25+ years, general online discourse ALWAYS dies down every summer. Every year.

One of the nastiest things about this is that the option to turn it off is NOT in your channel's settings; it's buried in the "Security" settings of your account, which makes no sense whatsoever. Unless, you know, they were trying to hide it away in a tab you only visit if there's a problem...
