Yikes. Well water needs to be checked. The last place I rented while trying to get out of my bachelor's program at USC in Columbia, SC, had the nastiest BROWN water coming out of the taps. I filtered it, but I still showed signs of heavy metal poisoning.🤢

15% of people in the US, most rural, rely on wells for drinking water and there's a water quality crisis that's going largely unregulated, and unreported. (No one's out here checking wells for quality and safety and overseeing water quality as with municipal water supplies.)

Hell, I'm still trying to figure out why facebook blocked me from re-sharing my own posts for like 3 months. 🤨 The last thing I'd shared was a family photo from 1973 of baby me and my 3-yr-old brother with my great aunt, who was a Dominican nun in her full habit. Srsly, what?

*nod* Hard same. (Lots of alcoholics in my family tree.) I, too, try to just avoid things that are likely to become damaging. I have always been a workaholic--and now all that energy gets funneled into working on the house/yard. That is still kind of unhealthy but feels productive. *shrug*

Teaching writing is an art. Getting a student past big anxiety. Pushing them to have confidence to trust that their ideas are valuable. Teaching them *enough* grammar to vary and connect sentences so a paragraph doesn't sound like a bulleted list. And on and on. But sure. Throw that out.

I don't remember thinking that. Our next-door neighbor was certifiable. He had "TRESPASSERS WILL BE SHOT" signs all over the place and got off warning shots at my brother and his bf once. My first-grade teacher was a violent sociopath who used to line kids up and hit them until they bawled. 💔

In Dec 2013, we adopted a rescue dog. Three days later, it attacked our family dog. I panicked--got in the middle of it--broken arm, f'd up fingers. Our bulldog? 7 deep bite wounds and a ripped ear, and she was pushing that dog against the wall to keep it away from where I sat, bleeding. ❤️

I don’t see a bear charging at a child. I just recently saw a bison charging at an old man and that was not this lol. But I will say that dog is brave as hell and I love him and my dog would absolutely 100% not do the same thing for me.
