#carte #EqualEarth #ONU #Mercator 1/10
Just mind-blowing. In fact it felt like living a mystical experience, at one with nature. In a way, it was the sort of cosmic connection you also get while being out at sea, on a night watch, when sailing by the stars.
For 1 min and 40 s, darkness descended upon us in a way words can't describe. In this unprocessed timelapse, you'll see how a band of dark sky passed over us, with Venus shining bright while the moon and sun were doing their thing low over the horizon. #SolarEclipse #Totality #CosmicConnection
What's this you just spotted at dawn on the water❓ There's theory and there's reality. Here's a real-life photo. Of a real-life situation at sea. What should you do if you spot this on your starboard? What about if it's on port? Once a few answers are posted, we'll reveal what lurks in the darkness.
It's an extraordinary place where you can find coral reefs and seals 🪸🦭 It's also the site of one of the most gruesome shipwreck stories. #coral #reef #shipwreck 1/7
Storms get the blame, but the sun is the relentless enemy of every boat owner. Whether you sail a classic wooden sloop, cruise on an aluminum trawler, or race a GRP yacht, UV radiation and heat are silently degrading your hull, engine, and equipment. 1/3
Its flashing rhythm is 𝗙𝗹 𝗪 𝟲𝘀. This 36m tall lighthouse was built in 1857. It lies in one of the most iconic and historic places. Can you determine where? #lighthouse #maritime 1/5
Quick reminder before you take back to the water: your life jacket can save your life! And here's a 2nd reminder: good upkeep is essential to ensure its reliability. Routine maintenance and periodic servicing of your PFD are fairly easy. Here are some best practices: ready4sea.com/en/loo...
If the fuel propelling a sailboat still feels like black magic to you, we recommend this excellent video: www.youtube.com/watc... Debunking legends such as "these boats create their own wind", this is a welcome clarification. It focuses what really powers the boat : wind energy rather than speed.
Why is the SailGP sprint leg so dangerous? #sailgp #thefoil
It's a question that puzzles newcomers to the sport. These F50 catamarans tear around courses at 50 knots, yet somehow it's the opening sprint leg – sailed at 90 degrees to the wind – that causes the most chaos. Stranger still, this is exactly the angle we teach complete beginners. So why do the wor

Cherry trees will soon blossom 🌸 Vegetable gardens and flower beds will follow. When tending a garden or maintaining a boat, success hinges on 3 things: 🔔 Staying on schedule ☑️ Doing the right tasks in the right order 📝 Keeping a record of work done last season (photos, receipts, notes) 1/2
Boat resting over the winter, brain already planning 2026. Ready4Sea to-do list turns "safety/reliability/comfort" ideas into prioritized tasks. Share with crew/yard. Better projects, not more. #Ready4Sea #BoatToDo #2026Projects
2026 resolution: Log maintenance as you do it 💪 30 seconds in Ready4Sea = photo + note + done. No more "when did we do that?" debates. Clear history for insurance, resale, crew handover. #NewYearResolution #BoatMaintenance #Ready4Sea #SailingHabits
#Ready4Sea #Resolution2026 #EntretienBateau #HabitudeSimple
Tropics over year-end holidays? UV + salt + heat = trouble. Checklists catch it: pre-launch engines/bilges, underway corrosion, anchor mooring/power. Ready4Sea is reliability in harsh conditions. #Ready4Sea #TropicalBoating #HolidaySailing
Scrolling Christmas photos? Sofa downtime over the holidays is great for storing boat haul-out pics, house boiler service, RV tire checks in Ready4Sea now. One app = organized maintenance for all assets. No more "where did that photo go?" moments in 2026! #AssetManagement #WinterProjects #Ready4Sea
Advent toolbox, December 24: the Headlamp. Fix things in the engine bay, bilge or on deck at night with both hands free and your light always where you’re looking. Tip: Lighter models are great for wearing repeatedly. A more powerful model will come in handy at times. Merry Christmas to all! ✨
Advent toolbox day 23: Cable cutter. Cuts a damaged shroud or stay cleanly in an emergency. Can protect the rig and make the situation manageable. Tip: Keep it accessible and sized for your rigging diameter. A cutter too deep in a locker, or that’s too small, won’t help when seconds count.
Advent calendar toolbox day 22: Torx bits. Tackle the star‑shaped screws increasingly found on deck hardware and electronics. Tip: Always choose the exact size. Push firmly into the screw before turning. Forcing the wrong bit will round it off. #Toolbox #TorxBits #BoatMaintenance #MarineHardware
Need a last‑minute Christmas idea for a boater? A Ready4Sea subscription gives a year of quieter mind: organised maintenance plan, safety and haul‑out checklists, logbooks and documents in one place. Not as shiny as a new gadget on day one, but still doing its job on day 300. #Christmas #present
Advent toolbox day 21: Wire/Side cutters. Snip cable ties, trim wires and cut small pins or rings cleanly. Tip: Keep them for metal and hard plastics only. Using side cutters on rope or very hard materials will dull the cutting edge much faster. #Toolbox #BoatTools #BoatMaintenance #DIYBoat
Day 20 Advent Calendar: the Putty knife. Strips off old sealant, paint or stubborn grime so the surface is clean. Tip: Thicker blades are suitable for scraping while thiner, more flexible blades work best for spreading spackle or putty. #Toolbox #Scraper #BoatMaintenance #BoatProjects #Ready4Sea
Advent calendar toolbox day 19: locking pliers (vise-grip). Clamp, hold or twist stubborn parts when you don’t have a 3rd hand on board. Tip: Adjust the screw so they grip firmly without crushing the part, and release them after use. Storing them fully tightened can weaken the mechanism over time.
Advent calendar toolbox day 18: Calipers. Check hose and pipe diameters, identify "mystery" bolts, measure plywood thicknesses and shaft or anode sizes. Tip: Learn to read the Vernier scale. It turns "roughly this size" into precise measurements you can trust when ordering spares. #Toolbox 1/3
Day 17 of our Advent calendar toolbox: Scissors. Cutting sailcloth patches, tarp material or zip ties. Tip: Cut with a smooth motion, using the entire blade, and pivot the fabric rather than the scissors. #Ready4Sea #AdventToolbox #AdventCalendar #Advent #December #sailing #boating #maintenance
Day 16 of our Advent calendar toolbox: the File. Deburr rough edges on metal parts after cutting or drilling. Tip: Depending on the side used, a half-round file can both work on flat and curved surfaces. Also works on hard plastics. #Ready4Sea #AdventToolbox #toolkit #sailing #boating #maintenance
