Shower thought: political polarisation as exacerbated by social media has made much of Western society akin to how Northern Ireland has always been. Americans are as solidly divided on Democrat-Republican lines as NI is on Catholic/Republican-Protestant/Loyalist lines.

I'm always concerned about the fandom can be highly conducive towards Internet/social media addiction. I don't have any magic solutions but I do think fostering greater awareness of it can help. Might be an idea for a panel at a con.
