Leftie badger. Small ginger cat to support. Was hoping things would get better… Guys? This isn’t OKC. Stay out of my DMs.
Horrific.
This issue isn't getting the publicity it deserves. One federal judge has ruled the practice of destroying rare books to be acceptable from a standpoint of intellectual property; the deeper issue of cultural patrimony has not been touched. elsolitario.org/en/2026/07/2...
In a Lounge in Brum just up the road from my poor house - waiting for a call from Building Control. Then I’d bury the builder in the hole in my kitchen extension floor - except that wouldn’t f-ing comply with regs either.
Big sigh. Watching My Brilliant Career many, many years ago I realised that Sam Neill would have been very difficult to walk away from - and I wasn’t confident that my writing output would have been worth the sacrifice… #differenttimes
Can we all please tag @countbinface.bsky.social in our posts so he knows he's got our support? Also he does have a website which has posters and merch though he gives the proceeds to NHS charities and Shelter.
Has just swallowed an aspirin and turned them over to find ‘dispersible’ written on the other side. It was the pack I bought to put in cut flower water. Just chugged one large glass and going to get another. #hydrationbreakordrowning
This is not the time to start having nightmares again. Life is already too weird.
With a laptop & bog standard software the book stamp I’ve just produced for our do on Saturday would have taken about an hour - a competent Y6 could have done it. Working on an overheating five year old iPhone & using overlays & tracing paper it’s taken me two days. But it’s off to be engraved…
After mocking Gabriel from Tennessee because he wanted to drink the excellent IPA from the fridge - I recommended BBC6music - especially on Sundays… Turns out he’s doing a doctorate in church music and a VERY serious musician. 🙄 #madEnglishwomanataparty
When a fitted sheet costs less than half the price of a car cover. Should have got the double… At least it’s only the cat laughing at me so far.
I’m being judged. It’s actually very pleasant out here atm. The house is an oven,
My daughter has just sent me this. I remember having a cuddly IKEA polar bear in my Y3 classroom. They used to like reading to it. I obviously didn’t prepare those kids for world travel…
What a depressing day. Although my pals in Brum are chopping a couple of inches off my frock so I don’t fall over it. And I scored another £2 veg box in Sainsbury’s. With only the cats to talk to I’m checking in on social media like it might answer back - by next week I’ll be shouting at clouds.
As I’ll be at Wickes when they open tomorrow I’ve just put the bins out. Surprised I didn’t get a reminder - maybe they’re out of range in the Arctic Circle. Next task is to put some shade up in the conservatory so it’s not a heat sink for the rest of the house. …
The ice cream freezers at Sainsbury’s were almost empty. All that was left was Häsgen Dazs, full price Magnums and these. Feasts used to be quite nice. This tastes of desperation.
Bought a frock. Made by friends up in Brum. Came beautifully packaged and apparently drenched in the smell of catnip…
Thankfully Resident Cat decided against knocking the bottles on the floor and has gone off upstairs for another day of f**king sh1t up.
Yes I should have gone to the cinema - but I can go when they get back - and a morning playing is worth far more than a ticket and free coffee…
And so almost exactly five years after breaking my arm and it not healing - I’m back to 3rd and 5th… Three octave scales are now on.
Put the cat’s water dish on the hearth I said. It won’t matter if there are drips I said. Just watched her sit on the hearth washing her ears, then reach out a paw and bat the water dish off the hearth and spill all over the carpet… F***ing chaos demon.
Getting the hang of playing with the funny clef - but have no idea what some of the written instructions mean. Neither arthritic wrist makes any noise…
The housemates are going on holiday tomorrow. My daughter’s fully packed case is standing in the hall and a taxi is booked for 8am. This is not normal…

Unfortunately my attempt to take out a contract on the dodgy builder and get him skewered was a miserable failure. Looks like Mick the Tiler will get his wish - he can smash up the kitchen extension to his heat’s content - because it’s been condemned. My solicitor’s going to be making money though…
Savage House walks fairly close to the footsteps of Draughtsman’s Contract. Even has a bit of Nyman. Tremendous fun - except for the mice. 😔
Daughter says listening to me practicing the difficult bits in Hey Jude for the gig tonight over and over has been like living in Guantanamo Bay. Rude.
My black concert shoes are in storage - so serious cobbling occurring this morning.
