LibDem MP for Wells and Mendip Hills. Passionate to serve my home area with energy, experience, and deep care for people. tessa.munt.mp@parliament.uk

For years, our local waterways have been pumped full of sewage, all while water bills rise, and water companies report profits. The PM must stand up for our communities, and hand our water infrastructure back to the people who actually use and rely on it. 👇🏽 sheptonmallet.nub.news/news/local-n...

MP demands action after 11,704 sewage spill hours

Wells and Mendip Hills MP Tessa Munt has demanded water industry reform after analysis found 11,704 hours of sewage spills in local waterways last year.

Last Tuesday, when the Hillsborough Bill finally became law, was one of those days in Parliament when I felt particularly proud to be your MP. Public officials lied repeatedly to the Hillsborough families. People in Somerset have told me about dishonesty and cover ups The unfairness drives me wild

Thanks to @tessamunt.bsky.social for urging @andyburnham.bsky.social to take up our case quickly given the decision by the High Court that we were out of time to uncover a cover up! Sir Alan Campbell clearly thinks the new PM "isn't one that's going to give up on this matter either" #chinookjustice

Great to see @tessamunt.bsky.social urging @andyburnham.bsky.social to take the Chinook case quickly given the decision by the High Court that they were out of time to uncover a cover up!

👇🏽 Great to see the Health Bill Committee debating my amendment for real. Many thanks to @helenmorganlibdem.bsky.social for moving the amendment, to @abrokenbattery.bsky.social for sharing the recording, and to @actionforme.bsky.social for developing the concept. Stronger together! #pwME

“5 years after the introduction of NICE guideline NG206 [for #MECFS], little has changed. Service provision according to NG206 remains patchy and poor, with many patients having traumatic experiences” Helen Morgan MP, UK Parliament

👇🏽Delighted that my amendment to the Health Bill was debated in the Bill Committee, highlighting the poor and patchy implementation of NG206 guidance on ME five years on from adoption. We must see this hard earned achievement implemented properly. Thank you @meassociation.org.uk for sharing this.

ME Association@meassociation.org.uk · 4w ago

Tessa Munt MP tabled an amendment, which was debated but has since been withdrawn, to the government's health bill which would have required that a period must be set within which the NICE guideline on ME/CFS must be complied with by ICBs.  https://meassociation.org.uk/hzf4 #MECFS

Please could you support @tessamunt.bsky.social amendment Clause 47 of the Health Bill? This would make it possible to have vital clinical needs & adjustments on patient record. Things like this are vital. Eg “adjustments for severe noise or light sensitivity” “will arrive with stretcher transport”

Lovely to spend time at ‘Churchill and Langford in the Park’, and on Armed Forces Day, to recognise the service of those who’ve protected us all, both now and in the past. Fantastic music from the Royal Marines Association Concert Band in a packed marquee on a beautiful sunny June afternoon. 🙏🏽

Earlier today I asked a Question of MoD Ministers about the date on which the *first* documents relating to the Chinook Air Crash were locked down and why there appears to be no Ministerial oversight and responsibility when documents are closed to the public. #ChinookJustice

Yesterday morning Somerset Councillor Ros Wyke and I met Wales & West Utilities about their proposed closure of the A371 Cheddar to Wells road for the 6 weeks of the summer holiday. We explained the business catastrophes which would unfold with such timing. Great that they have agreed to postpone!

Congrats to all involved in securing this critical funding! However, I understand that it is only sufficient for the next phase with a further £15m needed for all that is envisaged. SequenceME is reliant on charities and personal donations to fundraise for this. Sonya Chowdhury called it well…

🚨 Major funding secured for Sequence ME & Long Covid, a DecodeME project. On #WorldMEDay, we’re thrilled to share that the study has received £4.75 million from the UK government, signalling a transformative step towards uncovering the biological roots of ME/CFS and Long Covid.

I’m so aware that #WorldMEDay is painful for many, bringing home how tough it is to have #ME, and the seeming lack of progress. Please be reassured that many of us in Parliament do care, and are working at bringing about meaningful change. Change is inevitably slow, but I’m really encouraged.

I had great fun at #yattfest this weekend. Lovely to speak to so many people, meeting Mike and Zoe from Avon & Somerset Police; serving cider with Tom and Henry in the Thatchers’ box; and helping the team in the Strawberry Line Café & Community Cycle Hire tent. Congratulations to the organisers!
