Here to keep up with friends, post cat pics, and share fanworks. And apparently lament the decline of web tech, but I usually try to balance that out with more cat pics. he/they

I have lost the ability to feel comfortable with my boobs not trapped in something tight. I guess it's good to know this about myself but also binders and boob-squeezers are such a sweat-trap in the summer 😔

This is Fenrir. He has not yet been successful in cuddling with the cat. But thinks if he goes slow enough she might not notice. 13/10 (IG: fenrirfanclub)

Had my 3 months at new job feedback talk today. All good! Can't quite get over the fact, tho, that as we were talking abt departmental process development, my boss said "you've got this experience, I dont" to me, implying he's hoping for me to take more of a lead on what's essentially his job.

New phone is my first phone without a 3.5 headphone jack and I just. I'm so mad about it. I can't charge it while my headphones are plugged in. I can't use any of my old headphones. All so Apple could sell a few more add-on devices. I will never be over it.

I just cut glass! Or well, a mirror, and you don't rly cut it. You cut a little groove with a wheely tool and then clamp down on the groove with special tongs to break it along the line. Reason I did this is that the new bathroom has slanted walls and the mirror needed to lose a corner. Success!

I am always dismayed at how many ppl in customer-side software installation & support don't love themselves enough to use proper version control and environment-specific config mgm. You're the one who'll have to clean up this mess, not some customer ops team! Do yourself a favor and use git 😭

Bathroom works are ongoing. The past few days it's been a guy tiling the walls and floor. He shows up, turns on the radio, and enters some sort of deep zen mode vibing with the music & neatly lining up tiles for hours. Don't think he got the capitalist memo that work shouldn't be relaxing 😆

They've continued to show up horrendously early but they've been very fast & competent and so we're halfway to having an additional bathroom 🎉 all the putting-pipes-and-wires-in-walls bits are done and they've installed the bathtub, so what's left are the bits less likely to go wrong

Builders who were meant to show up at 7:30 showed up at 7:10. I have never felt more kinship with cats that pee on your clothes when they don't want you in their space 😔

Having thoughts on people using AI to generate art or writing. The word I hear a lot is lazy. I don't like that word in general & I'm not sure it rly describes what's happening. 'Insecure' and 'uninformed' work better for me: Uninformed: there's been a trend to mythologize and hide the creative >

Today I sat down & wrote a proper delivery update that listed all the things the client needed to do for us to be able to deliver. I immediately got two pings from colleagues making heart eyes. Which is nice on the one hand but depressing on the other. Has nobody ever managed your projects, guys?

Visited family today & learned that in their town (where I grew up), a couple of storks tried to build a nest on the very tall statue of Mary that sits atop a column in the central market place. This went a little too far for this deeply Catholic town, so they coaxed the storks onto a rooftop nearby

Red roof on top of a big, old-looking European building with an ornamented facade. On top of the roof's ridge (no idea if that's the right term - the long top edge of the roof) sits a metal bar carrying a stork's nest. You can sort of see that a stork is sitting in it, but the zoom on my phone is, well, a phone zoom, so you'll have to trust me that the black and white splotch in the nest really is a stork.

So we skipped the parade today bc of heat which means I got to try out my new saw! It is very nice it saws wood so well 🎉🪚 I cut the parts for a shelf I've been wanting to build for about 2 years and it was not a four week effort of laboriously trying to saw straight with a handsaw! Very pleased ☺️

The parts of a small simple bookcase with two shelves laid out on some terrace tiling. The wood is cheap construction pine wood. The bookcase's top left corner has an angle as if the shelf is meant to go sideways underneath a slanted roof wall (which it is)

My bday present was a handheld circular saw. It's perfect power tool weather, but I keep getting out of work too late to get out the saw, and this weekend is Pride. Which is great! But how abt letting me explore my masculinity by power sawing apart some boards in 35 degree heat, as a Pride treat?

There are about 23 ways to get from my house into the city on the bike, which is nice but also a little unsettling when you find yourself on yet another dirt track through unkempt wilderness you've never seen before with gmaps insisting that you're 8 minutes from your very urban destination 😂
