I still find it crazy that all the bullshit they said about drugs ruining your brain is actually true for generative AI, (down to the pushers giving you free samples to get you hooked) and anyojne with any power is just happily going along with it.

#EduSky: I've been teaching long enough that I've heard rigor used a lot, but haven't seen a good (rigorous?) definition. It seems to mean different things to different people, and that, to me, doesn't feel rigorous. Any help?

This may be true of others but I actually got express permission from the trans community to keep NYT games and recipes. I also have a news subscription, which is arguably worse, so I had to specifically send in a written request. Took 30 days but I got approved.

My spouse has been away and out of contact for the past week. Normally, the dog goes to work with them, and Peanut seems to be upset that she's not getting her car rides. So now I'm sitting in the back of the car with her pretending that we're going somewhere.

I'm enjoying watching the Tour de Suisse in Swiss(German). Brings back memories of watching the Tour with my uncle, who was the only one in my extended family who at all expressed an appreciation for watching sports.

(The answer to grade inflation, btw, isn't "tougher" grading. It's recognizing that grading, especially letter grading--not a very old system--serves employers but not students. It incentivizes cheating & corruption. Other evaluative frameworks are possible.)

I wish I could tell you the responses thrummed with defiance. Instead, some read like substance abuse testimonies. A student whose use of AI grew until AI "wrote" all assignments sophomore fall. Got caught. Crushed by shame. Swore it off. But it's creeping back, & they don't know how to stop. 3/

My "school is done" rituals are dwindling away. This year, it's just disabling my alarm.

End of year free day, and I've got a couple of kids with a guitar singing some songs and it's really sweet in that semi out of tune alt rock kind of way and it's not a bad way to spend the last week of the school year. #EduSky
