I’m the face in the crowd no one sees. Liberal, progressive. Part-time sharer of frugal tips, and most of all, a negative optimist. I’m behind you in the grocery store. I’m a driver at an intersection. I am your neighbor. Get to know me.
I believe the worst will probably happen but I still hope. Good people see what’s gone wrong. They understand what needs to be done. As the future unfolds, if we walk into the unknown with hope we have a chance. Without it we’ll lose everything.
Climate change, over crowded planet, diseases, poverty, wars… Dictators controlling a world of AI, and the manipulation of social media…this is something history has never seen before. Everything is at stake.
Balancing the news of brutal facts, avoiding misinformation, keeping hope alive and sanity intact is a moment-to- moment Herculean task. I often fail. To regroup, I leave social media and engage in the comforting rituals of the mundane. Real life lies beyond a screen.
Have we passed this level yet? When tolerance is demanded and intolerance is the response for a perceived lack of compliance, what progress has been achieved?
Our problems originate in economics not politics. Greed funds politicians who are motivated by $$$ and power and not ethics Rabid capitalism manipulates the masses to pour $$$ onto the already wealthy. That rabid capitalism destroyed democracy long before it became obvious.
The wealthy are THE enemy. Politics is a false front and support the increase of power. Republicans gaslight the masses and spread division to disable their biggest threat: the citizens uniting against them. Democrats while a much better alternative are still part of a system that has failed us.
A Money Story. A upper middle income 60-year old lost his job. He has had $$ all his life. He knows how to burn it. He doesn’t know what a sale is. He never eats a leftover and has food delivered almost everyday. The smallest frustration leaves him swirling in anger. Don’t be this man.

Irony: Our local food bank doesn't have a system for accepting food donations. Yes, I know a lot of people donate stuff that is inedible or so far past date as to be "antique food" but that's not all of it. Food banks would have to have volunteers or staff to handle influx. ???
Discovered a new smaller size soup can at the store yesterday. If the packaging keeps shrinking, we're going to be buying a fortune-cookie sized label that says. . .Soup. . .and then have to pretend to remember what food tastes like.
