~99 million years ago, Mother Nature made a horror film in tree resin: • beetle (our hero) • decaying—maybe zombified—cockroach • a well-fed tick + possible parasitic nematode No way to know exactly what happened… but it wasn’t a great day. And yes—there may have been some light chestbursting. 😅

99myo, this antlion was a pint-sized apex predator… And though this tiny terror never reached its final winged form, it tumbled into a kind of immortality—perfectly preserved in amber. Wrapped in a rainbow, with ancient water bubbles (enhydros)… all thanks to a rainy day and a prehistoric conifer.
