It feels crazy making to have lived my whole adult life with the weaponization of the DMCA to now keep reading news releases about LLMs gobbling up all of content and going around cracking secure systems

Is it weird that I am seriously contemplating eliminating my entire collection of (cotton) socks to replace them with merino wool hiking socks? I actually have great socks for running in, that prevent blisters etc, but I think I need something else for every day because cotton socks are killing me
If you thought you saw me singing Wonderwall with a busker and two small kids on Queen Street earlier... 👀
I forgot current UK gov policy is everyone has to follow Dua Lipa on Instagram
I love driving and have had points on my licence before. That is to say, I'm not perfect. But I really do think that we need to be tougher on driving offences. This is objectively outrageous and I don't actually understand how it's possible? It's such an easy win to just... Enforce the law??
"I'm getting fed up with getting pulled by you guys, so this one will result in a complaint," says the driver with 59 points on his licence. 59 points, and still driving, and he didn't go to prison. The system is broken. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I bought a lovely soft chair to go on my balcony yesterday and now it's raining I'm not saying that I can control the weather through my furniture purchases, but... 🤷🏻♀️
This is extremely out of character for me but I will say it anyway: I would like it to rain, just for like half a day, so that everything stops dying
My sister is coming to stay. Long story short I've explained how I air the flat by having the door open + fans but I need to take one fan with me to London (my room is 34°) She's insistent that she will use the air con unit I have despite me explaining no bc it's extremely expensive and inefficient
A: I'm going to bring my hello kitty cards to show you tomorrow Me: ooh wow I can't wait to see! How many do you have? A: I don't know. So many I can't count them!! But i could sell them for £1 each Me: ooh wow ..but what did you pay for them? A shrugs: I don't buy them. You'll have to ask mummy 😆
What did I say earlier? Everything is dying. We need rain.
End of May/start of August.
IKEA is great if you're like "I own nothing in the world and want to buy stuff" and you also don't like knowing where stuff is
Omg this is adorable. We gotta be kinder to each other and more encouraging of fun and silliness.
Your Much Needed Afternoon #TimelineCleanser ... Have fun at work, and if you can, make someone's day.
I think I am fine with everyone knowing each other if I am included in that but it is super weird to walk into a coffee shop and see multiple people have long conversations with the staff #thatswales
This is extremely out of character for me but I will say it anyway: I would like it to rain, just for like half a day, so that everything stops dying
There's an amazing example of Americans not realising the rest of the world exists that everyone is responding to and I'm just going to sit here and not respond but enjoy the chaos
Up early awaiting delivery of a chair that I got for my balcony which is apparently the best garden chair ever and has repeatedly sold out. I just thought it looked really comfy 🤷🏻♀️
Not lived in NY for nearly two years, still call things "trash"... it's just easier

London's first month without rain
Plus: There's nowhere to bury the dead • London wants to keep its money • When will it stop being so damn hot • Who is to blame for turning off the air conditioning in the tower block?

Do I need to have seen all the Spider-Man films to understand this new one? I saw the original two(?) with Tobey Maguire and I've never seen a Tom Holland Spider-Man film
Really struggling with getting myself going today. I did yoga, had coffee with people, went back home ... And now I'm just very tired?
What's super weird in this is NONE of the numbers make sense. The couple earning just under £60k between them spent close to £1900 in one week. The couple on £197k spent £1730 in one week. The retired people on about £70k spent £2100 in one week. Wtf is going on???
‘£5,800 on a watch?!’ What happened when five couples kept separate money diaries – then revealed all to their partners?
Watching Twin Peaks while I eat and Norma just said "maybe this is how it is when you get to the end of your life" SHE'S LITERALLY 38
Made some delicious bastardised version of shakshuka - onions, chorizo, tin of canned toms, paprika, cumin and mild chilli powder + eggs And greek yoghurt to cool it down 😋
I would LOVE to be taught how to scythe by a nun!
Today at the convent: the nuns have been teaching me to scythe.
I'm looking at pilgrimage routes in Wales and I found one that would be good, but there's a "map of the route" that is literally a trail line overlaid on a photo, like how is that supposed to help anyone to follow it?
I’ve seen a lot of my colleagues’ interactions with Claude working on research problems & it would be easier for me to accept it as a serious scientific tool if it didn’t end every single response with the LLM equivalent of “you want fries with that?” — constantly trying to goad you into asking more
Does anyone have an actually good way to prevent migraines? I can get rid of them when they get here but I always wait because the tradeoff is... 1) have migraine: in pain, can't focus, head hurts, neck hurts, teeth hurt, not v functional 2) no pain, feel like I've lost all braincells, can't focus
