Modernist. Internationalist. Antiracist. #MDANT. In my head, I’m a writer; in reality, I assess your vital signs. Mostly music-based words occasionally cobbled together at: http://www.theacousticeggbox.com

China Crisis at Bridgwater Arts Centre last night again proved that even after 45yrs they’re still at the top of their game. As well as being a great singer & songwriter Gary Daly is one of the funniest, most natural raconteurs I’ve ever seen with Eddie’s quiet, calm demeanour being the perfect foil

Suella Braverman, consider Walter Tull. Born in Folkestone to an English mother and a Barbadian father. A footballer for Tottenham Hotspur and Northampton Town. A British Army officer who led soldiers into battle and was killed serving his country in 1918.

Richard E Grant to Rob Beckett: “do you have more teeth than a normal human”. Completely without malice and delivered in a way that only he could, it was one of the funniest lines I’ve heard on TV this year. Even if he gets voted out, please let him stay 😬

Greetings you groovy Bluesky smashers! Hopefully I’ll be getting things off the ground in the next week or 2, but here’s the new logo for my new music related Instagram (YouTube to follow) channel. Thoughts?

Sadly, after 12yrs of The Acoustic Egg Box Albums Of The Year blogs, WordPress costs mean my 2025 edition was the last in that format. However, youll be horrified to hear that in future I'll be posting filmed reviews/recommendations etc on Instagram & eventually YouTube. WTF as the kidz say!

Good on Paul Weller for doing this. Trying to help rebuild healthcare for innocent people and - judging by social media comments - flushing out more thickos from his audience. Win-win. ✊🏽 🇵🇸

Artists For Gaza fundraiser. 27 September. Scala.

Spent an enjoyable evening at the inaugural Electric Summer gig in Taunton’s Vivary Park. Last on was organiser & long term town resident, Howard Jones. I’m an 80s pop kid at heart, & it’s easy to forget that at one point our Howard was selling squillions of records worldwide. Proper fun!

If you have a physical music collection, just go fishing through it once in a while. Have a big ol' rummage, get all your CDs, tapes, vinyl, whatever, out on the floor and just look through em. Bang a few on, read some liner notes, it's just magic, honestly.

I try not to do negative on here but Ive just had the misfortune to hear Reality Awaits, the new autotuned to within an inch of its life Strokes LP Maybe its meant to be embracing something new (Im not sure what mind) but to these bleeding ears it fails miserably Muse fans might like it though
