We are leaving our London hotel in a few minutes to drive to the Cotswolds! One of the best parts of London has absolutely been the concierge staff! They are hilarious! Brilliant dry sense of humor that we love! I would always recommend this hotel!!
Now, we’re moving to the Cotswolds for the rest of the vacation. We will miss BrickLane Market & Portobello Market. London is not like Paris. I can’t even explain the feeling here. It’s nice that everyone speaks English. it feels like we don’t connect but humor. London doesn’t feel like our place.
It’s the kind of place where you can’t turn a single lamp on. I just want to turn on my bedside lamp. Now. For one minute
Any suggestions for boutique hotels? This $9 coffee is too much for me. I’m serious!! I don’t even know the difference btwn Starbucks and office coffee. Also, I’m very “value conscious.”
London may not be the place for me—even though it’s my language. It feels so strict —though, we DO have same sense of humor!! I’m glad to explore here—but, still feel Paris was perfect!!
Then, we went to Oxford where I was desperate to tour abything Bodlien, but tkts sold out. 🤦♀️I wanted to go into the Boldlien gift shop—but our encyclopedic-minded guide skipped it and told us everything abt every college. I realize now, claim my time/ interests! Hope to return and look @ gardens.
Today! (Guided tour—strongly discouraged)—We visited the Cotswolds, specifically—Burford. It’s beautiful & I wanted to explore & lingerhave a pint and people-watch. get magnets and little tchotchkes for friends @ home. But that wasn’t possible. We hustled along. I learned a lot abt churches. 🤦♀️
Oh Jesus. I could’ve worn my Nashville clothes if I’d simply taken the time to lean the difference btwn celcius and Fahrenheit. Dammit. I have abt eleventy hundred hot weather things I could’ve worn. If considered hotel appropriate. Dammit. Off to go to find shorts
Also, tomorrow, we go to Cotswolds and Oxford! So excited! And I planned a special birthday surprises for my husband on his birthday! It involves a tour of all the sites in a classic mini-cooper! (Psst-don’t tell him!). We are little statute peoples! So, this is perfect!
Also! My England/ London friends—I wish someone had suggested I pack shorts and no coats!! Tomorrow we have to shop for some lightweight clothing. I brought things for 60°/ 30°! But thank you all for suggestions last yesterday and last night!
Okay, my friends!! We made it to London this morning and our room is ready. The hotel is beautiful! Live already begun my plant-parrazzi!
If anyone in London would be willing to meet for lunch or tea or a pint—please let us know!!
Frankly, I’m a nervous wreck abt packing. And I keep telling myself: “if you don’t bring/have it—just buy it and squeeze into home luggage, babe.” (I’m being kind to myself right now and calling myself “babe.”)
For London travel, y’all are the best to help me and my fam! Thank you!!!
I’ve got husband packed and pup packed but can’t get seem to get myself packed. What do normal people wear in London this time of year? I know enough to bring a rain coat and waterproof shoes. We aren’t fancy. But we don’t want to be underdressed, either. I’d bring 3 coats, 3 shoes, no dress
Okay Everyone!! Tomorrow is our journey to London. We will be there 10 days! We’d welcome all suggestions! We’ve heard go to “Sketch” and go to the ABBA show. And we’re doing a day trip to cotswolds! Any advice? This is my 1st visit to London…
My house style/ decor is “if you were under house arrest for a year—learn and be happy!” Just in case I ever get put on “house arrest.” I collect books, games, plants, art, things that are brain-stimulating. Especially vintage.
Uh dammit. I don’t think it’s supposed to sound like that, is it? Clearly, im not an hvac person but my neighbor’s unit is quiet. This sounds like it’s got something loose? Also, its only cooled to 77° since 5 pm.
We had to get a new HVAC unit. It began at 8:30 am and finished up abt 5 pm. They had to replace the furnace and disconnect the washer and dryer. I’m scared to go down to the basement to try to wash anything. But, the house is finally cooling off. 🥵🆒
And finally, the best neighbor’s little girl (8yr old) had a birthday party today.& I got 3 lip glosses which clipped and had trinkets. & a birthday cake bath bomb. She came out to hug me and tell me abt her favorite colors and trinkets! I love this whole family!! Parents raising wonderful kids!
Damn. Our HVAC crapped out. (We are so spoiled with cool air). The fixers will come on Monday.
