The Athletic's Ontario workers voted decisively yesterday in their OLRB election 15-1 in favour of unionization. We strongly believe The Athletic is a federal employer in Canada and that all workers belong in a single bargaining unit. This vote signals our strength and unity in the steps ahead.

Our American colleagues belong in the Times Guild. Sports jobs are Times Guild jobs.

Instead of doing the right thing by its @theathletic.bsky.social workers, @nytimes.com management is continuing the charade of pretending it operates separate newsrooms to keep a two-tiered system that disenfranchises Athletic workers. We are the Canadian workers of The Athletic and this morning we filed with the Canadian Industrial Relations Board our intent to unionize with CWA Canada. Later today, we'll do the same with the Ontario Labour Relations Board. Join us as we organize.
