As a kid, I remember hearing about the Carville-Matalin marriage as a kind of cute "love is more powerful than politics" bit of human interest. As an adult who understands what relationships are, I know you don't stay in a marriage to a person whose values you don't share. Carville is a Republican.

Any time I post about how much I hate James Carville some random person shows up in my replies to tell me James Carville is a good man who is trying to help the party. His wife is a Republican op and all he's done is push the party to the right and you're an idiot if you think that's a coincidence.

Still hung up on how much the script problems held back The Odyssey from being a really great movie. It could have been! Kinda feels like Nolan is getting to that auteur place where he can't really bounce ideas off of people and get honest feedback because nobody wants to say no to The Artist/Boss.

Really all of the issues I have with it come down to script problems. The visuals were great, the performances were great, all the mythic/monster/gods stuff was great (in fact I wish it had leaned more into that), Ludwig Goransson’s weird droning score was great. I just wish the script was better!

Oh, so this movie is WAY more insane than even the trailer made it look.
