I wish early adulthood leftist me could see this. Old, grumpy "Redneck" (as a slur and the correct meaning) me still loves it, but I am always worried it's too good to be true.

Decided to completely shave my facial hair for the first time in years...my wife scolded me for looking too young...I am 2 years older. I turn 39 this month, I want this moment. 😄
My son is having insomnia, puberty, yay. We sat for a bit and talked. My mom used to humor me as well. It's so weird realizing that this formerly tiny human, in less time than I've known him will be driving, legally able to drink, and pursuing his dreams. He just wanted to talk. I love these/
I actually miss giving directions. For the record, I'm quite Appalachian so my directions included times, random objects, weird names, analogies, metaphors, similes, etc. "After a bit, turn left where the road looks like a cricket's elbow and you'll see a blue house, keep going straight a little/
how i be getting around in my car now that Apple Maps and Google Maps are dead to me
Got an ad today, it was quite skippable. I don't mind ads to keep an app going as long as they don't interfere with important processes.

So apparently accidentally dropping your phone in a trashcan that has glue at work is not good for your phone. Luckily I'm due for an upgrade.
"Without borders we wouldn't have a country..." Unalienable rights were believed by the Founding Fathers to be with everyone...well...everyone depending on the Founding Father* you asked...part of the Constitution having amendments was to expand on it. But no, Jimmy Maga, borders don't matter./
Why does nobody trust dealerships? Well they tried to get a neighbor to pay more money for an unnecessary rotor job, claiming that the rotors were warped and the pads were pad, after some time before replacing the calipers. That that is why the brakes were loud and not working. Well.........../
"Brakes are a little spongey" Okay cool, I'll look at them when I get home. Brakes- *leave chat* Folks...spongey and not there are 2 very different things.
I was today years old when I found out that Thomas Paine wrote poetry...as a historian I only knew his essays and articles. "Let others choose another plan, I mean no fault to find; The true theology of man Is happiness of mind." -Thomas Paine
Veterans Affairs made a post and as somebody who actually signed the blank check, respectfully, FUCK YOU.
I just rescued a kitten off the road and gave his mom a lecture. If I could have, bro would have come home with me. The fact he listened was just adorable.
Hold up, @mapquest.com , not only can I be a gay unicorn, but you are giving me an alternative route to work that is safer for my Mustang. Well I guess I'm done with Google.
At least somebody is defending nostalgia!
"...no no the offensive guy..." WE MUST PROTECT MEL BROOKS!!!!
My daughter was nervous at first, but after a few moments carried herself with her confidence. She didn't cry. She settled right in for her first day of school. I love her.
As a 90s-early 2000s Ford owner...Canada makes a lot of the best parts. Like I can't stress enough how important Canada is to my area of car culture.
"Even if we eventually emerge from this conflict with a better deal than our government walked away from, a prolonged conflict with the U.S. could spell doom for Ontario’s auto sector anyway." — @jm-mcgrath.bsky.social
As one who keeps stumbling on songs I didn't know about or had forgotten...I feel like a lot of us are going...wait...that really sweet lady also made music?
I sold a suspension part the other day...I was quite happy to see "Made in Canada."
Yep, that movie, and after losing my mom to cancer, I can't watch it, but I love it.
Dolly broke me in early to her raucous self deprecating sense of humor when we began steel magnolias rehearsals i asked her - how long does it take to do a hair do like yours? Dolly - no idea, i’m never there when they do it! i started taking Dolly-isms notes on the back of my script after that
Dolly Parton was an uncredited producer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. When she learned the only female producer was making less than her male counterparts, Dolly cut her a check for the difference, on the spot.
A literal saint:
Like I said earlier, that's my favorite and Glee, and Miley, and now Jack White, everyone added something to it and Dolly was always so damn supportive.
Jack White is already paying tribute to Dolly Parton with a cover of Jolene in London
We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.
That's the voice I referenced in an earlier post. She just made everything seem okay.
🥺
We lost a real one today and we all need to pick up the slack.
my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.
I take it back on songs, forgot this one... When a flower grows wild It can always survive Wildflowers don't care where they grow
Awful confession as an Appalachian...I didn't like a lot of Dolly's songs...I adored her as a person. Talking to friends across music tastes, that's the general consensus, "Not a fan of her music, but of who she was...100%." That said when Joleen comes on I sing it, one of her few sadder ones./
Dolly was the Pop Star we wish all Pop Stars would be. *stares at T Swift who had a private prison/ICE fuckwad at her wedding* (and it pisses me off because I always used her music as my fighting music)
Fun fact: Dolly Parton spent decades quietly funding band uniforms and instruments at Black high schools across the South - never once putting her name on it. No headlines, no fanfare — just help, given because it was needed. Wonderful Heart ♥️ RIP Dolly ❤️
David Freiburger is a car guy, he's been with multiple magazines, TV Shows, and now does YouTube. If you love the newer Camaros, he's the guy who took it over 200 and is on the poster. He's also an old LA metal head. For him to say this...it cuts deep.
Dolly Parton saved many, many people’s lives with her contributions to the Moderna vaccine and that is what I will remember about her more than anything. We should all hope to do this much good. www.knoxnews.com/story/entert...
Dolly Parton gave the world the gift of reading and a COVID-19 vaccine
Dolly Parton's philanthropy extended to any cause anywhere she felt she could make a difference, big or small. That’s just who she was.

As a parent who has raised awesome kids...Bet. Seriously. Do it. I am cool with another reason to remind MAGAs that they are whiney losers. This is toddler behavior. Send it.
The Trump-installed board that runs the Kennedy Center told a federal judge the building will have to be torn down unless President Donald Trump's name goes on it.
