Pathfinder 2e’s +/-10 crit system is such a natural fit for the d20 that it’s wild that we’ve been rolling a d20 for so long without it. It allows the use of the entire range. You might just need a 4 to succeed, but the roll can still be interesting because sometimes it’s really important to crit.

Man if you thought Mass Effect was fascist before this… well you were right. And you’re about to be even more right.
"saudi arabia owns EA" is going to be the headline you see basically everywhere for this one but "jared kushner is about to use EA as a vehicle for trump administration bribes" is equally relevant imo
“This mechanic will feel cool and dramatic and interesting and powerful but most of all, it’ll make you feel *baaaaaaad*” — like half the things I design
"Liberal bubble" has only ever meant anywhere where right wing perspectives aren't artificially elevated and forced into everyone's feeds.
Really cool filling out an application for a third-party recruiter company only to find out after I submitted the application that it was for a job I already got rejected from.
my GMing principles: 1. Just tell people stuff 2. Just ask people stuff 3. Be fully 25% meaner than you think necessary (50% if you're naturally a weenie) 4. Be 50% more generous than you think necessary 5. Never say what they "could've done" after a session, especially not if they directly ask
Not sure if I'll be able to go to Metatopia this year, but assuming I am, would anyone be interested in a talk on how to use Google Sheets to make character sheets/playbooks? It's one of the few things I feel like I'm an expert on, but I'm not sure if this topic is interesting to anyone else.
I probably should get rid of this section. It's not really needed or tie into of the other major gameplay elements of Cleave. But a trail guide on a middle school camping trip taught me that people generally have pretty good night vision and I feel very inclined to share that information.
Idk man I think a worker owned collective of journalists who aren't afraid to report complicated situations of harm in our industry is really good and I'd like to see it continue and hopefully one day expand. I'd love for said journalists to be able to earn a livable wage while doing it too. 💙

Why tactical play and PBTA AREN’T intrinsically opposed (also why “quantum moves” are one particular style of design, not a universal mandate)
If you had to give a one hour discussion about any top c related to ttrpgs with no warning what would your topic be and what points would you bring up? #TTRPGQuestion #ttrpg

Rascal is fantastic. If you’re at all interested in TTRPGs as a business and as an art form, definitely consider signing up.

This cat loves that I’m unemployed. She knows she can demand pets whenever because it’s not like I have anything better to do.
I taught my 9-year old nephew Undaunted, and he loved it so much that he got his own copy. My brother texted me tonight: "Undaunted is so complicated. [Nephew] beat me straight up in it tonight." I'm so proud of him.
This is just a marketing degree with a digital studies focus.
I’m with the boomers on this one. Burn it all down
Watching this on Nebula and wow, Netflix really screwed this one up, didn’t they? Like I try not to keep an open mind but I really can’t imagine watching that ending to the Library episode and thinking, “Wow, what a good way to do that!”
Netflix Avatar video up on Patreon 😀 Drew Gooden released a video about the show yesterday but I respectfully ask you to boycott him
I got so frustrated with streaming not having any movies anymore that I setup my PS4 again just to have a Blu-ray/DVD player, and it feels like I’ve gotten access to part of my life back.
The reason that they’re pushing on this now is because WB loses the license if they don’t. So basically Zaslav is more attached to the “Barbie” name than any of the stars or people behind the success of the movie.
‘BARBIE 2’ might happen with Greta Gerwig ready to begin writing the film. Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling & Greta Gerwig are all in talks to return but David Zaslav is currently refusing to pay what they're demanding, calling it “too generous.” (Source: www.nytimes.com/2026/07/31/b...)
So many RPGs for some reason like to have a group of people that they can be like
Invisible Sun has these entities which are basically background prop NPC's, but in a diegetic way. I can't recall their names but they do shit like man bars and clean things, but they're not "real" people. I never made the connection between them and service workers but it seems really obvious now
I'm an atheist, and it would take a lot to get me to believe in a benevolent god... but potatoes might come close.
Real ones have known Ken Jennings is a shithead for a while.
Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.
Good-faith concern on this issue would be going, "hmm, professional sports leagues should probably have some standards in place to ensure trans competitors aren't getting an unfair advantage," googling for 5 minutes, realizing every sports league already has those standards and dropping it.
i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice
First glance at Dungeon World 2e’s beta: it’s neat! My biggest problems with DW1e mostly come from how it seemed to be mashing things together without understanding why they worked in the first place. But that doesn’t seem to be the approach for 2e. There’s a much clearer vision.
Rewatching HBomberguy’s takedown on Fallout 3 because I’m autistic, and once again wishing he or someone like him would do a similar takedown of BG3. Sometimes, I think maybe I should write, record, and edit a video essay so I can be that person, but then I remember that I’d have to play BG3 again.
*standing up on the plane* okay so the Russo brothers don't understand these characters beyond their most identifiable traits, so they miss really important beats that actually define their character. Iron Man left the Avengers at the end of AoU, which was the point of his arc in that film, yet in C
*standing up on the plane* okay so the first thing you need to consider when interrogating if Frodo and Sam from Lord of the Rings are an example of romantic love is to understand Tolkien's context; what did same sex love mean to an academic and a veteran of world war one in the middle of the 20th c
It’s so humid outside that my glasses fog up like I just entered the reptile exhibit at the zoo.
On the most recent Besties, @plante.bsky.social absolutely nails the current state of feelings toward Microsoft and the game it's releasing/announcing.
