I voted for human & economic thriving Truth to power Bring back shame Great Man theories are dehumanizing Kamala Harris told us this would happen Learn civics. Please. Not interested in delusion Side eye to this.

I'm disgusted and annoyed to my core when I run into a company that refuses to take any accountability for fk ups. It's one thing to have irrational policies & accept accountability for them, and quite another when a company lies to consumers and doesn't do anything to rectify it when called out.

The thing is ... the people who bother to be serious about building expertise and understanding which problems need solving, and at which point, in which ways, are usually a really different group from the ones white supremacists and patriarchalists center. it's counterproductive to erase them. But

We can tell, assholes. Also. There are actually some people who know what they're doing. Usually they're the ones ignored by the self-important dudes in charge.

Monday is the deadline for public comment! The Heritage Foundation has been mobilizing its members to leave comments in favor of the rule change, so every unique comment matters (don’t use a form letter or copy/paste—similar comments are batched and treated as one).

There's an OMB rule change that would require political oversight of scientific grants, and could pull any that don't "reflect presidential priorities" Another country has tried this before! It was the USSR and it was called Lysenkoism. By @thsaey.bsky.social www.sciencenews.org/article/omb-...

I didn't want to say it at the time, but Brunson's 3-pt shot NOT being blocked by the tall Texas center & then OG making a miracle play to give the Knicks the lead/win in game 4 might finally put that game 6 Olajuwon block on Starks' 3-pt attempt for the 94 championship to rest. 🏀🏆🍾🥂

NSF has ordered the instruments to be removed starting this month. So what can we do? Congress ultimately controls appropriations; they need to hear that the OOI isn't wasteful spending, it's public infrastructure that's just as important as our roads, weather forecasting, and emergency management.

There's a lot in this thread with which we can all confront Republicans. I fail to understand why markwayne mullin's DHS deserves a single penny of funding, much less $69.195 billion on top of the inordinate amount already given in the July OBBBA, and especially without accountability & oversight.

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social · 3mo ago

Taken all together, Judiciary is $39.152 billion, and HSGAC is $32.5 billion, for a total of $71.652 billion. Of that, $1.457 billion is for DOJ, and $1 billion is the ballroom, so it's a total of $69.195 billion for DHS, with very little accountability or oversight.

In December, I told you about how Trump’s Department of Education is stripping nurses of our professional status and making school more expensive. From now until March 2, we need you to raise your voice and submit a public comment: www.federalregister.gov/documents/20...

Rep. Lauren Underwood@underwood.house.gov · 8mo ago

As the only Democratic nurse in Congress, I remember how expensive pursuing my degree was. And now, Trump’s Education Department is moving to make it even more expensive. Here’s how you can help.

None of the fascist agenda works if they have to acknowledge that all human life has intrinsic value. They are at the point where they can't even see that value in the most adorable children, whom the rest of us regard as precious.

If a town wants to build 1.6 million square feet of warehouse space in residential areas populated by majority minority residents, and won’t say what the ”technology park” will do, would it be a big leap to question whether they will cause a spike in cancers for town residents? Sign this petition:

It’s so wild how the wealthy are destroying the Amazon that potentially has the cure for all the cancers in favor of an Amazon that’s creating new types of cancers

Logic can have sharp elbows. It’s so interesting when someone smarting from the pain of applied logic to an illogical argument believes that they are the victim of an emotional response. Quite the opposite. Trust, logic is calm, even impassive.

Anyone advocating for Chris Murphy to lead in place of Schumer is advocating for a Dem party split & sacrificing the base for the sake of white men, the (heavily R-voting) cohort Chris said were getting the shaft while he maligned the rest of the Dem coalition in the aftermath of the 2024 election

For anyone still not clear, John Thune is telling us that this is exactly the outcome he wanted. Since he’s the guy who could have effected a different outcome, given that he’s the same Senate majority leader who “went nuclear” to push nominations forward, needing just 50 votes, only a month ago

When will the self-styled "captains of industry" & "masters of the universe" acknowledge that they are, as a whole, a group of cowards, collaborators, and thoroughly mediocre people who would be less destructive if they better valued humans without their privileges (& generally were more humble)

The (non-partisan) CBO projected that 16 million Americans would be pushed off health insurance due to the big bitter budget bill & now people who, I guess, don't worry about their ability to afford health insurance are clowning the House minority leader for speaking on budget harms to healthcare 🤨

I was annoyed that Arthur Ashe stadium had nothing except a Sabalenka practice session on all day before the women’s semis started at 7p & now I’m outraged on behalf of Amanda Anisimova and Naomi Osaka. Why have them finish at 1a when they could have pushed up the night session start time by hours.
