On my way to the Open Home Foundation meet-up in Utrecht! Looking forward to meeting part of the OHF team and yellow HA enthusiasts!

It's beta week! The last Home Assistant beta of 2025 starts Wednesday. Santa might have snuck some gifts into this one to close out the year 🎄 Not gonna lie, I can't wait for you all to see what's coming. Any guesses on what Santa brought? 🎅

Last weeks I've been working on some Home Assistant automation blueprints to work with a Telegram bot. There is a blueprint for alerts, for /commands to be used in the chat, and to send Assist commands in the bot. More info: github.com/TheFes/ha-bl...

A new Home Assistant beta is released and to try out some of the new functions I created a new blueprint. It allows you to set reminders using voice, which will be sent out to the person you specify. It uses a script which is the tool used by the LLM, and an automation to actually send the reminder.

The last week I've been busy creating #homeassistant blueprints for voice commands. Right now my new Github repo has blueprints for 🌦 weather forecasts (both local and LLM), 📅 calendar entries (local and LLM) and list ✅ todo items (only local). more to come! 💙https://github.com/TheFes/ha-blueprints

So, there I was participating in the 2016 Olympics.. Just after finishing the 4x100 relay which we lost from team Toad, my phone started buzzing. When I took it out of my pocket I had to confirm I was okay, it apparently detected a car crash 😂

It’s the season of giving. May I recommend to donate to your favorite open source maintainer. For Home Assistant ecosystem: check docs for your favorite integration, look who maintains it, hit up their GitHub sponsors!

Hooray! 🎉 The operation was a success. 👨‍⚕️ My HP ProDesk Proxmox server now runs on 32GB of memory! Immediately doubled the memory assigned to the Home Assistant VM 👍

For my 5yo I made an Ulanzi clock show the current time, but also where we are (downstairs/upstairs, indicated above or below the icon) and how long it'll be before it's time to start the day. When he noticed I changed when this mode was activated, he sighed: "you changed something.. again..." 😂😅

Apparently I've been a good boy this year, and Sinterklaas was so kind to gift me 2x16GB memory for my new Proxmox server. So I'll be playing operations later today :)

‼️ It's time for Month of "What the heck!?"! WTH is WTH? Every 2 years we open up the forums to any issue, suggestion, or annoyance you have with Home Assistant. 👂🏻 👇🏼 for more details from Frenck on how to share your WTH moment with us. 😌 #HomeAssistant #SmartHome #HomeAutomation

Here's my new home for my Home Assistant server, a refurbished HP ProDesk 600 G3. 🥳 HAOS is running in a Proxmox virtual machine, with enough power left to also run a small webserver. Hopefully Sinterklaas will have a memory upgrade ready for me 😊 Xiaomi Magic Cube for scale 😉
