When scientists say it’s not too late to address the climate crisis, we really mean it. Resources to work through your climate emotions and then get involved in activism are always linked in my bio.

I used to environmental compliance for landfills, and some accepted very low-level radioactive waste. I also used to be a solid waste planner for the State of Tennessee. That's why I know this is a horrible idea. We can't even safely manage our municipal solid waste in the state!
Tennessee among 5 states offering to accept nuclear waste
Five states have agreed to accept nuclear waste from around the country in exchange for federal help to develop nuclear energy and create thousands of jobs. Tennessee, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Utah and Id...

Y'all, I just got an ad for investing in coal due to the AI data center boom on my feed. Whoever set up their ad campaign did a horrible job, because I'm an activist who fights both fossil fuel and data center expansion. It gave me a good chuckle, though, knowing everyone all the comments hates it.
It’s time for another round of Good Climate News, my evidence-based weekly newsletter and video series that looks at recent progress on climate. Read more in the latest edition at the link below. goodclimatenews.substack.com/p/edition-49...
One thing I love about living on the cusp of a temperate rainforest is the wide variety of fungi I can find in my own yard. This is a new one, though! I suspect it’s a Coprinopsis lagopus (hare’s foot ink cap), but fungi identification is something I’m not great at *yet*.
Recycling as a whole ISN’T a scam just because plastics recycling is!! So please keep on refusing, reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting your waste!
Tech CEOs would like you to believe their version of AI is like the kind you see on Federation starships in Stark Trek, but it's really the kind that the Ferengi use to make as much profit as possible. I mean, have you read the Ferengi Rules of Acquisition? It sounds exactly like our tech CEOS.
Update: I’m safe and only lost a couple of small tree branches! No tornado hit the ground where I live, but I did receive ~5 in (12.7 cm) of rain within an hour! It really is time to plant that rain garden, install rain barrels, and replace my gutters..
I was literally thinking about how the winds outside sound like the storms before tornadoes hit just two hours ago, and now the tornado sirens are going off. Yay for another tornado warning alone with the pets in the basement!
Dry farming or dryland farming is one way that people throughout history have been able to grow food in areas where it’s super hot and dry outside, and it’s currently making a comeback because of climate change!

It's wild the number of people who came after me yesterday because I only had the space in a post to write "electric vehicles" and not "electric personal vehicles + electric work vehicles + electric public transit + electric micromobility vehicles". It's not my fault Bluesky posts can't be long!
Gute Nachrichten! Clean energy has officially overtaken fossil fuels in the third largest economy in the world! Last year, clean energy outgenerated fossil fuels in Germany for the first time ever with clean energy generating 44% of the total electricity while fossil fuels powered around 43%.
Friendly reminder that these things aren't impacted by closing the Strait of Hormuz so maybe, just maybe, we should implement them to avoid being impacted by future conflicts: -Solar panels -Wind turbines -Battery storage -Electric vehicles -Bicycles -Natural fertilizers -Electric heat pumps
It’s still not too late to address the climate crisis despite all the horrific wildfires, heatwaves, and floods the world has experienced over the past couple months. Read more in the latest edition of Good Climate News.

An industrial site near me with a plastics production and chemical recycling plant applied for an air pollution exemption from the Trump administration and recently received it which means this asthmatic gets to breathe in even more pollutants at unsafe levels until at least 2029..
Eastman's Kingsport site granted temporary exemption from EPA air pollution rules
Eastman Chemical Co.'s petrochemical facility in Kingsport will be exempt from an Environmental Protection Agency rule on toxic emissions for two years.

GOOD NEWS: Activists successfully pressured the Bank of England into no longer accepting bonds linked to the coal industry, and their new policy is stricter than most other financial institutions that have restrictions on doing business with the coal industry.
It’s official. I’ll be back at Climate Week NYC this year!
E-bikes, scooters, and mopeds are reducing more demand for oil than electric vehicles! Always wear a helmet and don’t forget to pressure your local government for protected bike lanes!
Liverpool is set to spend £30 million over the next few years to reduce stormwater runoff!
This headline from nearly 20 years ago is making its rounds on social media again, and some are using it to spread climate doom. If James were still alive today, he would be equally horrified at how bad climate change has gotten and how people are using that as an excuse to give up.
A new analysis has shown that New England's offshore wind farms prevented significant strain on the electric grid during the most recent heatwave, and that positive impact would've been much greater if the Trump administration would quit trying to stop construction at new offshore wind farms.
We could all use a bit of hope these days! Read more: goodclimatenews.substack.com/p/edition-47...
I 💚 both kinds of IPAs, but I wish the world had more of the Indigenous-led stewardship kind!
Let’s not hate on rural solar farms just because we need to be covering parking lots in solar panels too!
A bridge a little over an hour from me was recently named after Donald Trump, but it keeps getting “vandalized” with posters like this one.
Of course, all of the lettuce plants in my garden bolted right as Cyclosporiasis showed up in my state.
The highlight of my week was attending a fundraiser for a nearby nature center where I got to watch this black bear go to town on frozen fruits and veggies.
As a scientist, I was somewhat prepared to survive a climate disaster, but I wasn’t prepared to deal with conspiracy theories about how the storm was geoengineered and/or made by dark magic years after the fact. I even still have folks in my DMs who believe I’m responsible for Hurricane Helene.
