If you're using AI and ChatGPT to write ostensibly "creative" works, you're a thief riffing off the stolen work of people who did the work and who actually know shit and have skills. Do the work. Your brain will thank you.

GOP talking points today. Beat a woman - it's a family issue. Have an unwanted pregnancy or want to play sports - the government should set up camp in your vagina.

Okay, first a hummingbird shows up at my door. Now I've found a sock that was missing for months. If I were superstitious, I'd be pretty psyched for the next omen.

Very short notice, but I just saw this. The MyPillow guy is getting dragged into Minnesota's campaign finance court for giving away pillows as campaign promotions at a 4th of July parade, allegedly in violation of a law prohibiting the provision of monetary value to win votes. Hearing in 10 mins!

STATE OF MINNESOTA
COURT OF ADMINISTRATIVE HEARINGS
Dan Fiskum,
v.
Mike Lindell,
Complainant,
Respondent.
NOTICE OF DETERMINATION OF
PRIMA FACIE VIOLATION AND ORDER
FOR PROBABLE CAUSE HEARING
On July 22, 2026, Dan Fiskum (Complainant) filed a Fair Campaign Practices
Complaint (Complaint) with the Court of Administrative Hearings. The Complaint alleges
that Mike Lindell (Respondent) distributed pillows with the words “Mike Lindell for
Governor” on the packaging to spectators at the Delano Fourth of July Parade, in violation
of Minn. Stat. § 211B.13 (2024) of the Fair Campaign Practices Act.1 The Chief
Administrative Law Judge assigned the matter to Administrative Law Judge Nicholas
Lienesch on July 22, 2026.
After reviewing the Complaint, the undersigned has determined that the Complaint
sets forth a prima facie violation of Minn. Stat. § 211B.13. Based upon the Complaint and
the supporting filings, and for the reasons set out in the accompanying Memorandum, the
Court hereby issues the following:
ORDER
1.
This matter is scheduled for a telephone probable cause hearing before

Respondent in this matter is a candidate for the position of Governor of Minnesota,
which has a primary election scheduled for August 11, 2026, and a general election
scheduled for November 3, 2026.3 The Complaint alleges that on July 4, 2026,
Respondent rode on a trailer featuring signs supporting Respondent’s campaign in the
Delano Fourth of July Parade in Delano, Minnesota.4 The Complaint alleges that
Respondent and one other unidentified individual threw pillows to spectators along the
3Campaign Complaint (Complaint) at 2 (Jul. 22, 2006).

parade route.5 The packaging of the pillows had “Mike Lindell for Governor” printed on
them.6 The Complaint alleges that the pillows distributed by Respondent were MyPillow
products with an approximate retail value of $34.95.7 The Complaint asserts the pillows
distributed at the parade constitute a violation of Minn. Stat. § 211B.13, subd. 1II.
Analysis
Minn. Stat. § 211B.13, subd. 1 provides as follows:
A person who willfully, directly or indirectly, advances, pays, gives,
promises, or lends any money, food, liquor, clothing, entertainment, or other
thing of monetary value, or who offers, promises, or endeavors to obtain
any money, position, appointment, employment, or other valuable
consideration, to or for a person, in order to induce a voter to refrain from
voting, or to vote in a particular way, at an election, is guilty of a felony. This
section does not prevent a candidate from stating publicly preference for or
support of another candidate to be voted for at the same primary or election.
Refreshments of food or nonalcoholic beverages having a value up to $5
consumed on the premises at a private gathering or public meeting are not
prohibited under this section.
This provision prohibits giving something of monetary value, or promising
something of value, to a person in order to induce or deter voting in a particular way in an
election.
The Complaint alleges that Respondent directly distributed pillows marked “Mike
Lindell for Governor” from a parade float decorated with signs that said the same, in order
to induce voters to vote for Respondent.13 The Complaint further alleges the pillows have
a monetary value of $34.95.14 Taking the allegations in the Complaint as true, as required
at this stage, the Complaint sets forth a prima facie violation of Minn. Stat. § 211B.13,
subd. 1.
III.
Conclusion
The allegations in the Complaint, taken as true, establish a prima facie violation of
Minn. Stat. § 211B.13. Accordingly, Complainant’s claim will proceed to a probable cause
hearing.

A hummingbird just flew right up to my deck door (not into), which is covered in anti-collision bird deflecting decals - hummingbird-shaped. Sorry, dude, didn't mean to confuse you.

It's always a little startling on Bluesky when people pop up with bigoted opinions about transgender women playing in women's sports. I'm not interested in sports, but I'm even less interested in weirdos who have shit opinions about it. Blocking is my sport.

"girl dad", "boy mom". People are so weird. You're not special. You don't have special knowledge, skills, or insight. You had sex, you had a kid. Try not to fuck it up. And maybe stop using your little darling to justify saying weirdly sexist shit.

i think people advising that authors are going to be ok because they can explain their creative choices better than a slopper are coming from a good place (and prob mostly right!). but boy do i hate the presumption that writers have to rationally talk through the minutiae of their creative choices.

OK. Dem politicians. I'm going to be pissed if every time I go to my mailbox, you've plastered that demented fuck's face all over your literature. Knock it off. Stand on your own forward-thinking policy - that's what I want to see. I'm not voting for him - I'm trying to decide to vote for you.

Is it bad etiquette to answer someone's post that has a marvelous picture with one of your own pics? I get a little excited about birds, but then I wonder if I'm stepping on toes. I've done that a couple of times the last few days and don't know if it's considered bad form.

I love the scammer emails saying they're famous authors who are in love with my work. Really - which illegible notebook did you read? Or was it that one short story in a poorly edited anthology from a defunct writing group? Or the 3 dust-covered unpublished novels? Clue me in! #writingcommunity

First communiqué of the day: I have requested now several times that ****** stop sending me these emails. I can only assume your systems are automated to the point of lunacy. It’s a great way to lose a customer. I’m not reviewing anything. I already paid for the product. Leave me alone.

It's been kind of a rough day. When these days come - and they will - it's good to be reminded to be kind to oneself, to not save your most soothing words & tender thoughts for others, leaving you, with your battered soul, adrift. Anchor yourself to a good book, a hot shower, a moment of rest.

When I think about Covid, I think about my fear. My child was going through chemotherapy after major tumor surgeries (she's well now). I learned a lot about my fellow Americans (not good things), but the president & his hobgoblins are responsible for thousands of deaths. Never forgive, never forget.

I'm not letting AI horseshit maneuver me into a defensive position with my writing. I write like I write. I love emdashes. I keep using emdashes. Whatever we write, AI will take and copy it -- all you can do is keep writing the best shit you can write in the form you want it to take, and fuck it.

Tepid progressive responses for Bernie Sanders again showing his ass on morning TV. Just because someone says a few correct things doesn't give them a pass for blithely ignoring misogyny & racism. So tired of old white men in power. Why do people keep acting like politicians are their saviors?
