#LadiesOfLightLore I would say that I let the events of FF14 inform how characters live and develop. There are some things that forced certain members of the Ladies to grow into more mature people at great emotional cost, and I just followed their journeys through those events.

Be honest. Did you traumatize your original character for the sake of character development? Was it for better or for worse? #OCASK #OCQOTD #OCSKY

#LadiesOfLightLore Mirita & Khorijin don't. Khoride & Helena prefer plainer drinks like ale/whiskey, though they'll also indulge in fancier fare sometimes. Rija likes fruit cocktails, Ystride likes minty drinks, Euphemia has no particular preference, and Zardaar is still figuring her tastes out.

⚔️✨️ #WoLQotD / #WoLQuestion✨️⚔️ Does your WoL Drink? As in alcohol not water.

#LadiesOfLightLore None of the Ladies that met Zenos agree with him at all. Mirita, Khorijin, and Khoride all directly despise him, Rija and Ystride think he's projecting, and Euphemia just pities him. Explained a little more fully below.

Mirita likes fighting and pushing herself, but that's because fighting is like making conversation to her, at least most of the time. If you enter a conversation with the intent to dominate and break someone,
it's not a conversation, and between that and the fact that his family conquered her home, indirectly got her parents killed, and that Zenos himself stole her body and threatened the twins while in it...no way would she ever accept his framing.

Khorijin and Khoride are offended by the implication because they already both dislike the idea that the Xaela are "primitive" or "savage" by fascist Garlean standards, so any implication that they're alike to Zenos even in a mirroring way is equivalent to validating that viewpoint and they violently reject that notion.

While Rija and Ystride don't mind a fight every now and again, they're not anywhere near as fight-prone as Mirita, Khorijin, or Khoride, so the idea that they're anything like Zenos makes no sense to them at all, and they just think he's projecting their strength into his worldview when neither of them think the way he does.

And Euphemia sees how he's essentially a product of the system who raised him *and* a grown man who made his choices again and again, and finds it pitiable that he never could find any happiness except by doing all of this.

Whoever Zenos's mirror is in the Ladies' world, it's not any of them.

Zenos calls the WoL his mirror, does this ring true for your WoL/OC, or is there someone else that better suits the role? #wolqotd

#LadiesOfLightLore And as a bonus: #Fubuki and #Touka, who are the Ladies' shared retainers, are both from Hingashi; they both like it well enough, though they were happy to find work in Kugane, and I picked Hingashi because I wanted to have Black Hingans around, as a treat for myself.

Mirita: Ala Mhigo. She didn't know about it until a convenient Echo vision during Stormblood at the Peering Stones, but once she found out she became *quite* intent on learning more.
I wound up picking it largely because, out of character, I wanted to come up with a reason why Mirita's name wasn't a proper Seeker one, and that led me to researching where the M clan came from and going from there.

Khorijin, Khoride: The Azim Steppe. They both fiercely love the Steppe with all their hearts, and travel back for the Naadam every year or whenever they happen to be near Yanxia.
The Steppe was chosen largely because that's where Xaela of clan Borlaaq are from.

Rija: The Golmore Jungle. Much like Khorijin and Khoride, she goes back there whenever she can, as the Green Word is not so harshly kept in the Ladies' canon that she's barred from returning home.
Much like with Khorijin and Khoride, I chose Golmore because that's where Rava themselves come from.

Ystride: Technically, she has no actual "birthplace", though Ishgard comes closest, with the Azim Steppe next.
They once had...complicated feelings about Ishgard, but after joining up with the Skysteel Manufactory and working with Stephanivien, they've come to like it more and more, and after traveling to the Steppe to meet her closest thing to a bio-mom (Khorijin and Khoride's), she's grown to love it there too.

With Ystride it's complicated because she's Khorijin's "Myste", and while she first incarnated in Ishgard, a lot of complicated feelings that created Ystride were from as early as ARR through Stormblood, most notably Khorijin's unrequited feelings for Ysayle, unjustified jealousy of Haurchefant, and her subsequent regrets about both. The Steppe is the home that passively ensured Ystride's existence; Ishgard is what *actively* did.Euphemia: The World Unsundered, though not Amaurot or Elpis but an island, somewhere tropical and warm.
It's the place where her parents were born and grew up as well, though once she was old enough they raised her on Elpis long-term due to their position as researchers there.
She remembers very little of her birthland itself, and has mixed feelings about Elpis for a number of reasons, most notably that it's where her parents died in a research accident and that after the incident there, her next-closest mother figure came back...very different.
I ultimately chose not to pick Amaurot or Elpis but I wanted to evoke that other places existed in the Unsundered World. While I wouldn't ever say it's a 1-to-1 entirely, I think of the island where Euphemia was born as being very much like the Caribbean, most prominently Jamaica.

Helena: Bozja, though she never lived in the capital and was raised in a clan roaming the countryside that largely escaped the Bozja Incident unscathed. She loves Bozja deeply, so much so that she risked her life twice fighting in the resistance to free it from Garlean occupation.
I chose Bozja mostly because it felt the most appropriate place for Helena to come from, and it was the place we had the most insight into.

Zardaar: The alternate Draenor of Warlords of Draenor in World of Warcraft.
She misses her home dearly and *has* good memories of it, but at the same time knows that Yrel's fascist turn has nearly entirely ruined her good memories of it.
Initially, I thought about having Zardaar come from a "lost" ship from the main universe's exodus from Draenor, but after asking friends for help since I'm not deeply into WoW lore, I decided alternate Draenor would be more fitting.

#wolqotd #wolquestion Where was your OC born? Do they like their homeland? And as the player was there a reason why you pick that place?

#LadiesOfLightLore 20-40, at an estimate. The most fleshed out are the Ladies of Light themselves, then one of their families (Khorijin, Khoride, and Ystride's mother and sisters on the Azim Steppe), and then the group's shared retainers (Fubuki and Touka). Everyone else has some/no detail. (1/3)

#wolqotd | #wolquestion This one is for the players, how many WoLs/OCs do you have and how many of them are fleshed out?

"Color riot gposer and yapper that flies under the radar" is how I'd put it as regards myself. But I don't mind really. I just need to gpose more, haha.

#wolqotd For the player: in socmed, based on what you do and how people interact with you -- what would you say is "your brand", in one sentence? 📸 I have a... slightly presumptuous reply to this, so I probably won't give mine, but I'm still curious about yours 😅

#LadiesOfLightLore I impose my own timeframe on the main story, seen in the 4th picture posted here. Since it's been about 9 years since the start of ARR, the twins are 25, Alisaie is taller than Alphinaud, and they have more of their grandfather's complexion for Reasons.

ARR: 5th year of the Seventh Umbral Era, and part of the 1st year of the Seventh Astral Era

HW: 1st going into the 2nd year of 7AE
Post-HW: Remainder of the 1st year of 7AE + all of the 2nd year of 7AE

StB & Post StB: 3rd and 4th year of 7AE

ShB & Post ShB: 5th year of 7AE

EW: First half of the 6th year of 7AE
Post-EW: Second half of the 6th year of 7AE, going into the spring/summer of the 7th year of 7AE.

Dawntrail: Starts in roughly the spring/summer of the 7th year of 7AE, corresponding vaguely with the late June & early July 2024 release date of Dawntrail, and is currently continuing forward from there.

7.1 occurs roughly around the fall of 7-7AE, and 7.2 during the early spring and the summer of of 8-7AE, with 7.3 in late summer or early fall of 8-7AE and 7.4 taking place over the winter of 8-7AE and going into the spring of 9-7AE.

7.5 (including 7.56) takes place over the spring and summer of 9-7 AE, with a lull period in the fall and winter.

Evercold takes place over the winter and spring of 10-7 AE.

#wolqotd We all agree that the time bubble is kind of dumb and we just ignore it. But because of that, we need new reasons for why the twins don't age. So what are yours? Are they late bloomers? Is there some wonky magical stuff going on? Do just age them up? (If so, share your older twin designs.)

#LadiesOfLightLore Yes and no. I pants to get an outline then structure it later, so I'm not plotting anything yet. That said, I do plan for Zardaar to join the Ladies for Evercold & start reckoning with her own feelings of being an outsider. Euphemia has already started drawing her in a little, so

#WoLQotD | #WoLQuestion ✨ Are you developing the plot for how your WoL/OC's story continues in EC? Do they grow wiser? Do they have more angst? Is there something they crave in the 4th?

#LadiesOfLightLore All of the Ladies could, easily. Ystride would have the hardest time since she doesn't really lift Like That but she's still strong enough to manage it. Khorijin would probably be the one most interested in trying out a pair of Skyltborg herself.

Gremlway (hyped for Bastion FF14)@nn4nn4stuff.bsky.social · last wk.

Since I keep seeing memes about Lalafells being the new Bastion class that made me wonder... Would your WoL canonically be able to lift and wield the Skyltborg (Bastion weapon)? #wolqotd #wolquestion

I saw opinions about Fanfest reviews from other places (twt, official forums, reddit, etc) on the subject of "lore" and atp I think the FFXIV community should start looking at expansions with the same eyes comic book fans look at story arcs. Revisions, holes and 'retcons' will never not be a thing.

Presently, Khorijin might pick up Bastion since DRK has largely become Khoride's lane, and the mental image of Khorijin basically going Shyvana-lite with a set of shield arms is very strong now. But I don't do expansions on launch with the new classes unless I *really* feel the vibe.

#WoLQotD | #WoLQuestion ✨ Will your WoL/OC change their job in Evercold?

its nice when your friends like your ocs but its sooooo beautiful being able to connect with other people bc they wanna learn more about the original character that you built. it's such a wonderful thing to be able to learn more about someone from the things they create
