Congress should stop writing the judiciary a blank check while they flout congressional authority + abuse their power. The Appropriations Cmte should tie the courts’ budget request to meaningful benchmarks for reform or cut their budget until they implement reforms. @thelap.bsky.social
Sustaining this incredible yet imperfect experiment in democratic self-governance for the next 250 years requires vigilance from all of us. Questioning those in power is what our nation was founded on! 💪
There’s an effort underway in DC to remake the country in the image of one man. Yet across the country, we see displays of patriotism, heroism, and sacrifice. Those represent the best of us: people bravely standing up, speaking out + fight back against abuses of power at great risk.
The lack of accountability for judges who abuse their power is a congressional problem requiring congressional solutions. The lack of judiciary experts in Congress means there’s no one with the expertise and motivation to champion this cause. @thelap.bsky.social
