A late-comer to the LGBTQ+ community, but at least I made it. A bipolar, AuDHD badger between Baltimore and Philly trying to wrap his tiny brain around the world and everyone in it. (There may be NSFW content, so beware) https://www.theoldbadger.me/

I'm using machine learning to query a book on machine learning... well, I thought I was being cheeky... if you don't agree, kindly fuck off. /j /lh

☕️ - 1-4, depending on the roast. 🍞 - 3-5, because caramelzation is a beautiful thing. 🥩 - 1-2, even a blue rare would be acceptable. I am an animal, after all. A good Pittsburgh rare steak will get me to do some sketchy shit.

August and everything after (come faster!)@bresnanteddy.bsky.social · yesterday

☕️ 3 to 4 depending on the roast. 🍞 4 - I like a nice toast 🥩 2 if its a nice cut, I don't like it bleeding all over my plate but appreciate the texture

Managed to set up a RAG pipeline today. Not perfect, but it's a start. Still trying to get Open WebUI to work with a file export endpoint to save files to a filesystem (to take RAG outputs and create study guides, for example). Not as far as I'd like to be, but at least I can get RAG stuff going.

I loved seeing the clip of Kasie Hunt absolutely skewering Jim Jordan with his comments regarding Graham Platner - after he was being rather complimentary with respect to the allegations against Max Miller. Republicans have sold their souls en masse, and they may never recover from this disgrace.

Seeing pictures of Mamdani with fursuiters just makes me love him so much more. Politics aside, he really seems like a genuinely good person. I will be crushed if that image is ever shattered by the typical bullshit politicians get in trouble for... please don't let that happen, Mr. Mayor. 🙏

I find it ironic that our HHS secretary is the most famous anti-vaxxer on the planet, science denier, and sounds like he's about 2/3 in the grave. ... and just like every Kennedy, refuses to accept responsibility for something he caused (measles cases at a 35 year high, for example).

I'm also incredibly amazed at how efficient my old, secondhand 2019 MacBook Pro has been running. Yeah, it's not fast, but it's hella useful as a remote terminal and web app machine. I bet I could squeeze another year or so out of it before I have to think about a new one.

Rebuilt my LLM chat stack on the little DGX node I have. Running Nemotron-Cascade-2:latest, and holy shit this thing flies. OWUI can't keep up with the responses most of the time, and it gives amazingly thorough responses to even simple questions. All from a box no bigger than a hardback novel. 🤯

Was running a benchmark with gpt-oss:20b with my GPU this morning, and while it does top out at nearly 95 tokens/s on responses, that's also at 255W peak. I'm also VRAM limited (even if it's faster than what's in the ZGX) with only 16GB.

Spent all day at workshop. Attended post workshop happy hour with folks from SAP and Solace. Compiled notes and documents to create a follow-up report for leadership and the folks who couldn't attend. I'm beat, but I think it is going to pay off for me in the long run.

Oh, another good thing on the way home... driving through the hills of SE PA this evening, saw several deer frens, and a fox that looked right at me! That made my evening, honestly.

I am home... finally. What a good day. Also, Wawa... I am so sorry I slept on your pizza. It's definitely the best gas station pizza I've ever had. Hell, it's better than some pizza chains. It has been a good day.

I'm reminded of why I hated school... I'm in a room with 20 other engineers and technologists... and I'm somehow the smartest person here. Very simple concept is literally hanging the entire session up because smooth brains. FML

Currently sitting in SAP's PA office outside Philly for a workshop. Man, this place is spectacular. Glass everywhere, tons of natural light, open spaces and greenery. Clearly this company cares about treating its employees and clients extremely well, and I am definitely a fan of this.
