Following the WHO’s declaration of a global health emergency for Ebola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda, the risk to the UK remains low. Our latest blog explains the disease, including its symptoms, how it spreads, and how we respond.

Dr Meera Chand, Deputy Director at UKHSA said:
 
“While the current outbreak of Ebola affecting the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda is serious, the risk it poses to the UK population is low.
 
“It is rare for Ebola cases to occur in returning travellers and the NHS has safe procedures in place for any such cases and specialist centres where they can be looked after. We will continue to work closely with international partners.”
