Back in 1991, Duke Nukem was released for DOS on 1 July.

This is a cool accessory! It reminds me of the PSONE screen
VLC Player. May you never change! 100% free, completely open-source, and it works on so many systems and dominates the market. You are the most consistent piece of software in my computing world since 2001.
That was a very heavy keyboard. I couldn’t imagine sitting like that for long!
On 23 June 1991, Sonic the Hedgehog was released for the Sega Genesis and Mega Drive in North America and Europe.
Do you have any memories of getting your games at Virgin Megastores?

Would you like to see a comeback of Jazz Jackrabbit? It made a huge impact when it came out at a time when there was a massive divide between PC and console platformers.
This is a brilliant preservation project. Flash Museum has archived over 130,000 Flash games and animations and made them playable again right in your browser. When Adobe killed Flash in 2021 a huge chunk of internet history nearly disappeared forever. https://flashmuseum.org/

There were some bad video game tie ins over the years but Simpsons Skateboarding somehow passed me by. Released in 2002 for the PS2, clearly trying to cash in on the skating game craze.
Which of these CD-i controllers did you actually manage to get on with if you ever used one?
As well as making podcasts we love listening to them too. Some of our favourites right now are Retro Asylum, Cane and Rinse, This Week in Retro, Into the Vertical Blank and anything from the guys at Amigos Retro Gaming Network . Give them a listen! https://www.everythingamiga.com/
Pandemic Studios ran a promotion for Mercenaries 2 in 2008 where they offered free fuel to gamers. It was an absolute disaster. With oil prices at record highs, the queues were massive and the whole thing descended into chaos. One of the most ill-timed and shambolic gaming promotions ever.

One video game soundtrack I cannot get out of my head is Buck Bumble on the N64. Speed garage as a genre choice is pretty sick, but did you know it was released on vinyl? https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/24594779 https://youtu.be/-YkFMdq1hpw?si=G67dBwYlVU2rxiYd
One area of gaming music that doesn't get nearly enough attention is the keygen music era. Cracktros were awesome but some of these tracks are absolute bangers. Did you have a favourite? https://hackaday.com/2025/07/20/remembering-chiptunes-the-demoscene-and-the-illegal-music-of-keygens/
We loved having Dara on the show. Check out the behind the scenes link below and let us know - do you think we'll ever see another mainstream TV show like Go 8 Bit? https://www.channel4.com/programmes/dara-o-briains-go-8-bit-behind-the-scenes
We hear a lot about Manic Miner but what about some love for Dynamite Dan? An absolute classic that deserves way more attention.
