Think of your kidneys like filters. When they are working properly, they keep important proteins in the blood. Proteinuria happens when extra protein shows up in the urine, which can be a sign the kidney’s filtration system needs a closer look. Tiny word, important clue.

What is the BIGKiDs Study? BIGKiDs, the Biobank to Illuminate the Genomics of Kidney Diseases, is a research study at Boston Children’s Hospital focused on understanding the genomic factors that may contribute to nephrotic syndrome and other proteinuric kidney diseases.
