Today I learned that when you plan to end a lease in Germany you need to inform your landlord three months in advance via a PHYSICAL LETTER sent through certified mail. Why are you like this Germany?

I am so relieved to finally secure a permanent position. In the past 9 years I've applied to 123 permanent jobs. Last year I applied to 34. This year I applied to 39. I have been unemployed since January. I assumed I was done. The process is brutal and the outcome is impossible to predict.

Our study supports the idea that local shocks, such as those in the protostellar jet, can cause an enhancement of ionized particles near protostars. If confirmed, this will have big implications for how these systems evolve: ionization couples gas to magnetic fields and drives chemistry (3/3)🧪🔭☄️

We use observations from the IRAM 30 m and NOEMA of CO and HCO+ (which forms from CO in the presence of ionization particles) to constrain the ionization rate. We find ionization rates of 1e-16 to 1e-13 per second, way higher than the 1.3e-17 value folks usually assume (2/3) 🔭☄️🧪
