Another gem from New Brunswick's @galleon-books.bsky.social. A great little novella whose true value (for me) lies in the witty repartee amongst the characters running a funeral home (always good for humerous material) and their efforts to thwart a takeover of their property for development.
“The lives of the men and women in The Saltbox Olive is always balanced by a convincing and apparently accurate description of the daily lives of the Newfoundland soldiers who were deployed in the war.” #ThrowbackThursday @breakwaterbooks.bsky.social www.theseaboardreview.ca/p/the-saltbo...
I received this book from @llpmtl.bsky.social in exchange for a review. As far as good short story collections go, this was a 5-star read for me. "Ways to Hold a Gun" was just one outstanding example. Recommended for lovers of literary #shortfiction.

2026-18 💙📚 Growing up in Windsor people talk about "the county". That county is Essex County, a series of small communities, with huge swaths of farmland in between. Jeff Lemire's collection of three graphic novels are stories of isolation, loneliness and through it all, hockey. Simply very good.
