Court Grants Preliminary Injunction Suspending Exclusive Contract in the 143 Entertainment Lee Yonghak Sexual Assault Case

[Press Release]

• Court grants the victim’s request for a preliminary injunction suspending the effectiveness of her exclusive contract. A just and expected decision.
• More than 900 people submitted a petition calling for strict punishment of the perpetrator. The criminal trial must proceed without delay.

Last April, the Hanbit Media Labor Human Rights Center (hereinafter “Hanbit Center”) held a press conference bringing public attention to the case involving allegations that Lee Yonghak, CEO of 143 Entertainment, sexually assaulted a member of one of the agency’s idol groups.

On July 31, the Seoul Central District Court granted the victim’s application for a preliminary injunction suspending the effectiveness of her exclusive contract with 143 Entertainment. The decision comes more than a year after the full details of the case first became public.

Lee Yonghak, founder and Executive Producer of 143 Entertainment (also known by the stage name Digital Masta), allegedly subjected the victim—who was a minor at the time—to three hours of verbal abuse and intimidation under the pretext of discussing the continuation of her group activities. During that time, he allegedly committed acts of forcible molestation and sexual harassment. Afterward, Lee Yonghak signed a written statement admitting wrongdoing to the victim’s parents and promised to step away from the entertainment industry, but none of those promises were kept.

Rather than protecting its artist, 143 Entertainment forcibly removed the victim from her group. Even after doing so, the company continued to maintain the outrageous position that her exclusive contract remained valid.

The court’s decision to suspend the effectiveness of the exclusive contract is both justified and appropriate. The court found that Lee Yonghak’s conduct was not only “behavior that a director of a company with a duty to protect and support its artists should never engage in,” but also pointed out that “there is no evidence that the company has, to this day, any intention of carrying out management duties on behalf of the creditor (the victim).” Based on these findings, the court concluded that suspending the effectiveness of the exclusive contract was necessary.

143 Entertainment failed entirely to protect the victim and has shown no willingness to support her. Under these circumstances, insisting on maintaining the exclusive contract serves no purpose other than to keep the victim tied to the company, interfere with her future, and continue causing her harm. We also hope the court will reach a prompt and fair decision in the main lawsuit seeking the termination of the exclusive contract.

The criminal proceedings against Lee Yonghak are still ongoing, and the case has now been forwarded to the prosecution. Last June, the Hanbit Center submitted a petition signed by more than 900 individuals and 8 organizations, calling for a swift investigation and severe punishment. Fans from 22 countries also joined the petition campaign, demonstrating the widespread domestic and international concern surrounding this case.

Despite these developments, the alleged perpetrator was seen accompanying one of the company’s boy groups to a concert in Japan on August 1, as confirmed through social media. While the victim—whose career was at one of its most important stages—has had to put her dreams on hold to focus on recovery because of this incident, the alleged perpetrator continues to work in the entertainment industry without meaningful restrictions. To correct this deeply unjust situation, the criminal proceedings must also move forward swiftly.

Why the boycott of 143 Entertainment continues?

these issues and failed to take appropriate action. The organization further criticized the company for passively allowing its CEO to commit crimes against an underage artist while neglecting its responsibilities as an entertainment agency.

Questions also remain regarding the individuals who continue to hold positions of influence within the company. Former 143 Entertainment A&R leader Heo Yujeong publicly called out both Lee Yong-hak and Director Park Jun-sang through an Instagram story, writing:

compensate the victim!"

As far as we are aware, Park Jun-sang remains involved with 143 Entertainment. The continued presence of individuals connected to these events raises concerns about whether meaningful institutional change has occurred.

Additionally, transparency remains a significant issue. Official statements have been altered or removed, including the company's announcement regarding Lee Yong-hak's departure. This pattern has contributed to ongoing uncertainty and has further eroded public trust.

The appointment of a new CEO does not, by itself, resolve these concerns. Leadership changes are only meaningful when accompanied by accountability, transparency, and concrete corrective action. To date, 143 Entertainment has not adequately addressed the issues that prompted this boycott.

For these reasons, TheSevenPact continues to support the boycott of 143 Entertainment. We remain committed to advocating for accountability, justice for those harmed, the resolution of labor disputes, and meaningful reforms that prioritize the safety, dignity, and rights of artists and workers.

Until these concerns are properly addressed, we do not believe that the circumstances which led to this boycott can be considered resolved. We encourage everyone to review the available sources and draw their own conclusions based on the documented evidence.

[Sports Seoul Reporter Ham Sang-beom] Chairman KOJI MASAI, who leads MASAI Holdings, an entertainment IP investment company in Korea and Japan, has taken office as the new chairman of 143 Entertainment.

On July 20, 143 Entertainment announced that it had signed a Strategic Investment Agreement (MOU) with Chairman Masai and would begin actively pursuing a mid-to-long-term growth strategy focused on expanding its artists’ intellectual property (IP).

Chairman Masai is a Korean-Japanese businessman known in Korea as a major shareholder of Shinhan Bank. Through his real estate and investment businesses, he has consistently shown interest in the entertainment industry, particularly by supporting Korean artists’ activities in Japan and expanding cultural business initiatives.

While we recognize this as a potentially positive development, it does not resolve the company’s existing issues. Park Junsang, who has been identified by the victim’s representatives as complicit in the alleged abuse of a former minor member, remains involved with the company. The victim is also still bound by a strict exclusive contract with 143 Entertainment.

It is also important not to overlook that 143 Entertainment remains under police investigation following allegations of abuse, while separate legal complaints regarding unpaid wages are still ongoing. We believe these serious matters deserve continued attention and careful consideration, regardless of changes in the company’s leadership.

We sincerely hope this leadership change marks the beginning of meaningful progress. That includes full accountability, the removal of Park Junsang from the company, a transparent and public apology to the victim, meaningful remedies for the victim, and concrete actions that prioritize the safety, dignity, and rights of all artists.

The boycott remains in effect until these demands are met. A change in leadership alone does not resolve the serious concerns surrounding 143 Entertainment. We will continue to advocate for accountability, justice for the victim, and meaningful reforms that ensure the safety, dignity, and rights of all artists.

MADEIN’s official Japanese website has been updated for this comeback to include only the four currently active members. This confirms that BZONE is still operating in collaboration with 143 Entertainment.

MADEIN’s official Japanese website has been updated for this comeback to include only the four currently active members. This confirms that BZONE is still operating in collaboration with 143 Entertainment.

In an article dated December 25, 2025, as we know it was reported that Suhye and Yeseo were in final discussions with the company regarding their departure from the group. The same article also stated that BZONE will formally raise the “issue” for “breach of contract.”

Based on the context, legal action may be taken directed toward Suhye and Yeseo, particularly in light of 143 Entertainment continuing group activities and promotions in collaboration with BZONE.

Based on the company's past actions, we understand "archived" to mean removed. Previously, 143 Entertainment has quietly deleted posts on Instagram and X (Twitter) concerning Gaeun's removal from the group, Suhye's reported hiatus, and the alleged resignation of Lee Yong-hak (Digital Masta) as CEO.

Additionally, the current suspension notice was released exclusively through 143 Entertainment's official account, with no corresponding statement shared on any official MADEIN group social media channels. Given that the announcement concerns the status of two MADEIN members, the absence of any indication on the group's own platforms is unusual and raises further questions.

For a company that claims it "will strive to become a team that repays fans' expectations," the removal or limited visibility of official notices is troubling.
