The @JakeLFischer Latest is LIVE and explains how the MUTUAL option in new NBA contracts -- as opposed to a pure player or team option -- became a thing again this summer after a dormant 25 years. Full story: tinyurl.com/28h4ahx5

The NBA is now a Mutual Admiration, er, Mutual Option Society

Don Nelson coached the Bucks and Warriors (twice) as well as the Knicks (briefly) before his time in Dallas, but make no mistake. When it came to Xs and Os, Nellie was a 24/7/365 maverick. In tribute to Nelson, I reflected on the years I had a front-row seat for Nellie Ball: tinyurl.com/yeyws9t8

Nellie Ball

In Don Nelson's NBA lifetime, spanning five decades as a title-winning player and ultra-creative coach, that term was synonymous with success, pushing boundaries, controversies galore and mostly fun
