Wait... Apple released a folding phone that looks like the original Google Pixel Fold... and named it the "Duo" which was the name of Microsoft's folding phone??? And, the original Duo had two screens rather than one folding one - thus the name. Wow, yeah - definitely a creative first. /s

Let's be clear here - what Greer is saying is "It's Canada's fault for fighting back when we punched them them. I mean we only hit them half as hard as we did everyone else, so clearly they're being ungrateful." That's some fine grade school bully logic right there. www.ctvnews.ca/world/trumps...

Canada to blame for Washington's escalation of trade war, says Trump trade czar

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer says Canada is to blame for Washington’s decision to escalate the trade war with its northern neighbour.

Yes, the only country that has ever attacked Canada was the USA. The only times one of our nations mobilized to defend the other was ALWAYS when Canada defended US military interests, not the other way around. And the only time NATO article 5 was enacted was for Canada et al to defend the USA.

My favourite bit is when Vance says that no one has attacked Canada because we're protected by the US, someone should have reminded him... The ONLY country that has attacked Canada WAS the US... in 1812 (yes, we existed as a colony named "Canada")... With friends like that... who needs enemies?

Whoa... "Canada, EU to form new alliance: Bloomberg Canada and the European Union are working to build a new all-encompassing alliance that will include trade, security, supply chains and critical raw materials..." Starting to sound like a Switzerland arrangement... www.ctvnews.ca/world/trumps...

Oh jeeze.. someone got Google Maps to rename the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting pool to "Ozaawiminaanzo Inini Reflecting Pool” which is meant to be an Ojibwe translation of the words “orange-coloured man." And yes, it was a prank. :) Google has no guard rails.

Can the press please stop using the word "mysteriously" when they mean "unexpectedly"? "Mysteriously" has baggage. It implies a sense of impishness or worse, nefariousness - that someone is trying to do something surreptitiously, when in fact, it's just something we haven't figured out yet

Ok... the final (so far) list of what's getting tariffs on the Canadian side as of Sept 8 has been posted and I'm happy to say comic, magazines and books seem to be off it. Most of what's on it we make in Canada anyway, so not a huge hit to us but will block the US. www.ctvnews.ca/world/trumps...

I'm getting reaaaally tired of the chronic anti-Canada bias and obsession with the US and Australia in UK press. The BBC wrote a piece on the trade collapse suggesting Canada was at fault. Guardian was split. Seriously, Canada needs to join the EU and get out of this so called "Commonwealth".

So apparently what brought down the deal was the US demanding that Canada not make independent deals with other countries, to impose tariffs on other countries as the US requests and to not enforce cultural laws and requirements on US businesses in Canada. If true, then Carney made the right call.

You mean making one of the most expensive consumer XR headsets since the HoloLens, that needs an external battery pack and only runs with macOS might *not* have been a huge success? I'm shocked, I tells ya... SHOCKED! Ok, maybe not that shocked. www.macrumors.com/2026/08/21/a...
