The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. I wanted to like this book, I really did. I love the Mistborn Trilogy. But there was just so... much... backstory and history. I get it, you have to build your world if you are to create an epic. And the last 200 pages or so were really good... (1of2)

#Booksky: Are there any authors/series/topics/etc that you go out of your way to collect? One of my bucket list goals is to own every Discworld novel. Before that was to own the entire Wheel of Time series. Another goal is to own as many different types of religious holy texts (and translations).

The Book of Elsewhere by Keanu Reeves and China Miéville Not gonna lie, chose this because of the celebrity author. While the opening chapter and ending were decent, the middle had a lot to be desired. I felt there was just too much backstory and jumping around between time periods. (1of2)

Rainbow in the Dark by Comfort Love I don't know how else to describe this other than a hippy-dippy action/horror comic about the power of love and the evil of conformity. There is violence and torture. And there is LGBTQ and music and creativity. And it all smashes together. (1of2)

Gods of Asgard by Erik Evensen A tamer retelling of many of the Norse myths that seems to be geared towards a younger audience. The basics are there, but I felt there was a lack of excitement or energy. This would probably be good for a young teen as an intro to Norse myths. #booksky #bookreview

Hope Vol 2: Masks by Dirk Manning This one continues shortly after the end of Volume 1. More heroes and villains are introduced as we learn about Julie and her husband. This one is a balance of superhero/villain action and family drama. #booksky #bookreview
