In 2022 on Metroid Prime's 20th anniversary I posted a series of dev stories on Twitter (Pre-X!) about the development of the game. Now that my website is back, I consolidated them all into a single page. Check it out! threewave.com/metroid-stor...

The Beared Girl (2026) is first movie I helped bring about as executive producer. It's heading to theatres in Canada this April 25th. I'll be at the showing at the Rio theatre in Vancouver. Here's the official trailer. Can't wait for people to see it! youtu.be/RzgGMmA6BcI

Project Hail Mary was an awesome movie. One of its stars poking fun at Cameron just makes it better.
Tried installing CachyOS (Linux) on my main PC. I guess I selected the wrong drive and stomped over my Windows install. Boy the Windows Boot Manager gets very upset when you install a different operating system into its partition. Guess what I got to reinstall this afternoon!
Something a bit different than my usual video game content! Two years ago we were invited to help produce a quirky coming of age film about a family of bearded ladies. The Bearded Girl premieres at the Fantasia Film Festival in Montreal on July 17th. Check out the teaser trailer.
I'm installing Ubuntu Linux to try out gaming on it again on my primary PC. During the install it showed a banner with "Great for gaming!" with a picture of Dota 2. I'm like, cool, I helped make that.
Watched Netflix's Adolescence again with a friend. Still a gut punch--the ending just tears me up emotionally. It's so well written and produced and the acting is just stellar. Stephen Graham's performance as Jamie's dad is a particular standout. You can just feel his despair. Highly recommended.
Every once in a while I remember @hbomberguy.bsky.social 's "most fuckable twink" line from his video on plagiarism as the funniest thing I've ever seen in a video and quietly chuckle to myself.
One of the weirdest (worst?) things of recent news is having to explain "Leopards ate my face" to friends and family. Sigh.
Well that's different. I live in Kelowna, the third largest city of British Columbia. The main bridge across the lake is closed this morning due to a bomb threat. Crazy. Never expected that in Canada. www.castanet.net/news/Kelowna...

Its been almost twelve years since Boards of Canada released their last album. I still have hope.
They did it again! Nintendo is not including the original Retro Studios credits in Donkey Kong Country Returns HD. Nintendo's policy of not including the original credits for remastered games is unacceptable. Their work is still there! Story below...
Does anyone else have issue with 5G on their phone where initial use of web or social app takes many seconds to load? This goes away if I switch to LTE (4g) connectivity. 5G has long establishment times? 5G+ is even worse. Maybe specific to my carrier, Telus?
I'm pretty sure all Canadians including myself will politely say "no thank you" to the idea of becoming part of the United States.
Path of Exile 2 is amazing, but then there's stuff like this. I get notified the map is complete, so I look away for a second. Four seconds later the ground explodes and kills me. My character makes frost patches so I had no idea the ground wasn't my own effect. There needs to be more clarity.

There is a new patch for Horizon Zero Dawn for PC that adds "transmog". I love how this feature in multiple games was named after the "Transmogrifier" from Calvin and Hobbes comics and is now common vernacular in gaming. Thanks Bill Watterson.
I've been enjoying Path of Exile 2 Early Access quite a bit. The improvement in the art and animation is so good it leaves the first game far behind. The skill animations in particular are wonderful to watch and feel great. Now, if I would only stop dying so much....
One of my favorite things is the day Metroid Prime went gold (Oct 2002) I took this poster around to everyone on the team to sign. It's a record of our memories working together. You may notice everyone signed around Samus, never on top of her. It was just how everyone respected the character.
The coolest thing I own, I think, is this “CRZ tree” that a friend and producer on WoW made for me when I left the server team the first time, signed by the then current members of the team. It’s wild somebody made desk art inspired by a technical thing I did.
Started playing Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered this week. Cleared 100% of the game. Going to finish the Frozen Wilds DLC then move onto Horizon Forbidden West! The improvements in the remaster in graphics, models and performance is very noticeable. Still a great game.
Getting ready for Path of Exile 2's Early Access launch in a just two days! Normally I run Path of Exile's standalone client, but for PoE2 I'm going to run the Steam version since I like Steam's new game recording feature. Will be useful playing during early access.
Checked the old blue site today and on my Following feed the first three posts were friends saying they will no longer post there and to follow them here. Guess its time to make this my primary site.
Following up on this. It is a very good time to buy a new TV. Good quality large size TVs are priced very low. I just bought a new 75" microLED TV for $1700 CAD ($1200 USD) for example. It's the season of huge TVs I think.
It's increasing looking like there are going to be many tariffs coming next year especially from China. If you were thinking of buying any electronics like TVs, computers, video games, household stuff like vacuums etc now is the time before prices are going to go up significantly soon.

I'm having a love and hate relationship with Balatro. I'm trying to play harder and harder decks and I'm at the point where it's always me losing at the last ante due to some bullshit. Well time to start another round....
