We provide HIV prevention and support to folks in Waterloo Region and Wellington County.
PrEP effectively reduces one's risk of getting HIV from condomless sex (when used correctly, of course!). It offers protection to people who are not living with HIV. It's available in oral form through pills, and injectable forms that can be given every 2 months or 2x a year, depending on the drug!
THRIVE is thrilled to be partnering with Toasty Toes WR and the Waterloo Region Community Foundation to provide socks to the community. We strive to be part of our community’s infrastructure, and through this partnership we are one step closer to happier feet year-round. #ToastyToesFund
On International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember the people whose lives have been lost to the drug toxicity crisis. We show up to support those who have lost friends and family, stand alongside peer and community workers, and advocate for a future without stigma against people who use drugs. 💜
This Overdose Awareness Day, we invite you to join community in mourning those we have lost to preventable drug poisonings. This crisis has gone on for far too long without adequate action. This year we also grieve losing evidence-based life-saving services that will worsen this overdose crisis. 💜
For THRIVE’s street outreach programs, socks are one of the most requested items. Folks living outside ailments such as trench foot and frostbite are common and can be extremely dangerous. Having clean, dry socks is extremely important to overall health, wellbeing. #ToastyToesFund #Community #SOCKS

PEP or POST-Exposure Prophylaxis (not to be confused with PrEP, which is PRE-Exposure) is another helpful tool for HIV prevention. Taken after experiencing an event where there's a high likelihood of someone getting HIV, it is most effective when taken within 72 hours after an exposure! (1/2)

July 21st is Zero HIV Stigma Day! Stigma is still the main barrier to address HIV prevention, testing, care, and support. It makes it difficult to have conversations about HIV, leading to many people unable to access preventative tools, HIV tests, or even treatment. #HIV #HIVStigma #EndStigma

On National Indigenous Peoples' Day, we want to show our full support of local Indigenous communities, who deserve equitable and culturally-appropriate health care access. Check out the recently launched "Starting Home Fires" campaign. #NationalIndigenousPeoplesDay
Pride began as a protest against discrimination and remains rooted in that history. It is clear that much still needs to change for Two-Spirit and LGBTQ communities to achieve true equality. #Pride #2SLGBTQIA+ #CambridgeON #HumanRights #PrideIsProtest

Poverty is both a direct and indirect barrier to healthcare access. Health is available to folks who can afford healthier food choices, sustain maintenance medications, or take unpaid days off work for health reasons. It's clear: poverty reduction improves health. #SocialDeterminantsofHealth #SDOH

We are in a time when Trans people are being stripped of their rights, with an unprecedented amount of anti-trans laws being passed. We must stand against hate and show our Transgender friends, children, siblings, parents, and chosen family that we are beside them. #TransDayofVisibility
