Watching Stand Alone Complex in 2026, it's kind of a relief finding out it's structured kind of randomly. When I watched this on Adult Swim back in the day I would vacillate between "I must have missed some episodes" and "I must be too stupid for this show" but it's kind of just Like That.

I have a personal belief that the more a person is a nerd for something: dinosaurs, The Odyssey, etc, the less likely they are to enjoy a popular entertainment version of that thing.

I think when you really nerd out for something, you want everyone else to love it just as it is, and you resent anyone who demands it serve a purpose other than being exactly itself.
